Former Member of Parliament [MP] for Bantama constituency, Henry Kwabena Kokofu has said the preventive measures of flooding must start from the citizens and not the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) or any President.
In an angry tone, the former MP affirmed on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme that “Ghana’s flooding is intentional and until we do what we know will prevent the flood, we will continue to suffer, since our actions cannot stop the rains”.
To him, there is no state institution that is adequately financed to udertake projects just like NADMO, but with the little given, through discipline the state will achieve its target.
According to him, if Ghanaians decide not to litter anywhere and keep the environment clean, the country will be the best place to live in.
He added that keeping our environment clean without the supervision of any authority and also actively involving in communal labour should be our priority to achieve our target results.
To him no amount of money given to NADMO by government will solve the flooding or filth problems if we refuse to change.

We rather need principled leaders. A few months ago, Kokofu knew that the flooding issue was a leadership problem. All of a sudden it is an attitudinal problem. Is it because his political party is in power? I personally listened to this man parading himselve from station to station lambasting the NDC over this very issue. Lets have some principles folks
Proper drainage system, change of attitudes, proper disposal and collection of refuse and recycling plants to turn these waste for other use will help. In Japan, the collection of refuse from peoples homes and public places are done by the city authorities, and these waste are taken to recycle plants. But the attitude is enforce into Kids the first days of their schooling. Ghana has lacked behind in so many things
You are right Mr, until Ghanaians change their mind, we will continue to experience this. We should keep our environment clean and stop littering aroung...Cleanliness is next to godliness....Keep your environment clean...bam!
Move the capital to a new and well planned area as Nigeria did to aduja.Accra can be economy capital and new planned place be the political capital. This will take the stress of Accra. The capital can be placed on land mass between ashanti, eastern, volta and northern region.
