NIGERIAN OPPOSITION party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has disclosed its intention to imitate Ghana’s ‘One District, One Factory (1D1F)’ policy to make Nigeria a united and economically vibrant nation.
According to the PDP, the replication of the policy would help Nigeria in brain gain and create jobs for economic growth.
The 1D1F programme of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by President Akufo-Addo is aimed at establishing, at least, one factory or enterprise in each of the 216 districts of Ghana as a means of creating economic growth poles that would accelerate the development of those areas and create jobs for the teeming youth.
The policy aims to transform the structure of the economy from one dependent on production and export of raw materials to a value-added industrialised economy, driven primarily by the private sector.
Speaking at the inauguration of the executives of the Ghana Chapter of the PDP, Oloye Oyeyemisola Fatuyi, Vice-Chairperson of the PDP Ghana Chapter, said “the 36 States of Africa’s most populous nation, Nigeria, are endowed with a lot of natural resources, which if harnessed properly can create millions of jobs for the people and other African nationals, yet due to greedy and selfish governance, millions of Nigerian youth live abroad and suffer while majority at home also go helpless and hopeless with no future prospects”.
The inauguration, which ushered the introduction of 16-man executives to steer the affairs of the Chapter for the next term, was on the theme “Time to rescue Nigeria: Urgent need for Nigerians in diaspora to get fully involved”.
He stressed that President Muhammad Buhari’s government had broken down some facets of the Nigerian economy such as security and manpower development, thereby worsening the already appalling plight of the Nigerian youth.
According to him, instead of President Buhari to use the benefit of his recent state visit to Ghana to draw some lessons from his Ghanaian counterpart, President Nana Akufo-Addo, on how to run a peaceful, united and economically vibrant nation, he chose to embarrass his well-known country.
He explained that the high number of population of Nigerians in Ghana also constrains Ghana’s infrastructure, hence the need for the next PDP government in 2019 to hit the ground running with the NPP government’s ID1F policy to restore hope for Nigerians.
The Publicity Secretary for the PDP Ghana Chapter, Barry Ndu Nwaihim, mentioned some of the economic contributions of Nigerians living in Ghana, and emphasized the need to make a corresponding input regarding decision making back home.
Mr. Nwaihim reminded all Nigerian citizens resident in Ghana to be law- abiding and be of good conduct to foster peaceful co-existence between both countries.

TT, if ndc had a brain to think of another option in power ndc youth wouldn't cry for jobs. It took ndc 4 years and 6 months to build 3 out of 200 community day SHS when ndc was in power, at least, some areas have started buildin the factories and by the end of the 1st term of the 2terms of the 8 years aaaaah! Ghanaians will enjoy papa! I don't blame you, because you come from a place everything seem impossible in your sight, so poverty is reigning. Ghana is one nation with diverse people with different ideas, some believe in work for me so at the end of the day we share by dividing into 3 and the owner takes 2 and the worker 1 such people believe in the batter business because our ancestors traded by batter, you give me money or salt for my foodstuff, such people know how to manage resources and funds. Get a life, and leave us alone for we know how to use our resources to benefit our people and everyone. Even Nigerians know and understand who are the good managers in Ghana and who hate and jealous and wish everything belonged to them and them alone so others will suffer. Take heart for those factories will come on, it took Osagyefo 6 years to build over 300 factories but it took John mahama to build 3 out of 200 community day schools 4 and a half years! that's the difference! and this Nigeria opposition party was in power the same as the ndc and John mahama and Goodluck Jonathan were the best of friends but never did he come out to copy a policy from the ndc and that's the difference! God Bless My President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, man of wisdom and knowledge! Barima ba ne wo ampa!
You must understand that establishing a factory is not like a commodity you can buy off the shelf. A lot of things have to come to play, so that the factories dant collapse as soon as it is established. Just like the Komenda Sugar Factory
As if it's working here. You can lie your way to power with some of these empty slogan. Time, is what will expose you.
