A sod has been cut for the establishment of a Hall of Fame edifice in Ghana to serve as a "learning reference center” and also for tourism purposes.
The Hall of Fame edifice, which is an initiative by organizers of Good Governance Awards Ghana (GGG Awards) is aimed at creating a monument for leaders of the nation and also generating revenue for the country.
The four-floor edifice is to keep monuments of past and current Heads of State and Vice Presidents, Speakers of Parliament, Ministers of State, Judicial officials and traditional rulers who have excelled in the various fields of work.
The first set of personalities to be inducted into the Hall of Fame of the GGG Awards are Ex-Presidents J.A Kufour and JJ Rawlings, former Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, Chief Imam Sheikh Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu and former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
Chief of Brekusu, Nana Oteng Korankyie II cut the sod on behalf of former President John Agyekum Kufour at the Ashesi University during the official launch of Good Governance Awards Ghana (GGG Awards) at Berekusu in the Eastern Region on Tuesday, December 18, 2018.
Founder and President of Ashesi University College, Patrick Awuah chaired the event, commending the organizers for their vision and great work to construct the monumental edifice at Brekusu which he believed will attract tourists to the locality as well as development to the area.
Good Governance Awards Ghana (GGG Awards) is an initiative by Africa Center for Strategic Government Performance in partnership with the Government of Ghana, World Bank, UNDP, STARR Ghana and US Aid to honour the hard work of government appointees.
The GGG Awards is to also expose government offficials who fail to perform their duties effectively.
GGG Awards & Hall Of Fame
The Awards scheme which is the first of its kind in Ghana is designed to celebrate and reward industrious Ministers of State, Members of Parliament (MPs), the Judicial Service, MMDCEs and Managing Directors of State institutions among others.
The event saw in attendance Chief of Brekusu and Chairman of the Board of the GGG Awards, Nana Oteng Korankyie II, Dr. Kennedy Kwabena Abrokwa, an Economist & Management Consultant at GIMPA, President of the Walker Group of Companies, Johnnie Walker, CEO of Skyler’s Company Ltd, Felix Andam, a renowned architect William Agbo of Design Associates Consortium among several other high-profile dignitaries.
