Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Eugene Boakye Antwi has stated that government must take a bold decision to compensate all residents around the country living on water ways and get those places demolished.
According to him, until government takes such a brave decision and allow good engineers to design and plan the city, flooding issues can never be resolved.
Eugene Boakye Antwi on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme, said political interpretations on flooding issues always done after every downpour in the country will not solve the issues as politicians will just politicize occurrences of such nature for their individual gains.
“ . . If we don’t allow engineers to design this country for us, we can never get to the promised land as far as flooding issues are concerned,” he asserted.
He lamented that government spends huge sums of money every year to desilt gutters believing it will curb or minimize flooding issues when there is any downpour, but it yields no proper results.
“ . . left to me alone government should use those monies in desilting gutters to pay the individuals who stay on the ways, preventing the water from free movement and demolish the buildings in those areas so that the water at least will have free flowing movements and not cause any harm.”

The houses are not supposed to be there in the first place. Why is it that we do bad things and expect everyone to worship us? Those who issues permits for those houses to be built should answer for it. Lets apply this to many sector for only five years and things will change. Those at lands re demarcating lands so that they are able to get bribes will have to be called even if they are on pension to answer for the legality of the action(s) they took.
These people who built on water ways, don't we have laws that bar them and the state taking action of they do not head to our laws. We don't have money to pay those who flout our laws and should be dealt with
