Adam Bonaa, a security expert has condemned Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Micheal Olufemi Abikoye, for some comments made in relation to what he describes as xenophobic tendencies in the country.
Ambassador Abikoye claims the nature of reportage of crimes involving Nigerians has the potential to mar the relationship between Ghana and Nigeria.
"The Ghanaian Press, both print and electronic as well as social media seems to have enjoyed a field day in demonizing Nigeria which for all intent and purposes, is seen as a fraternal brother to Ghana . . . the ongoing media trial of criminals which was now being turned into a media trial of Nigeria as a country, calls for moderation on the part of media practitioners in Ghana," he said in a statement.
But speaking to this in an interview on Peace FM's Midday news, Adam Bonaa described his statement as condescending and undiplomatic.
"I am sure he is just a politician, not a diplomat who has been sent to represent Nigerians here. The way the statement was couched doesn't speak well of a diplomat . . . " he said.
'Coup Professor'
Adam Bonaa has also asked that the professor who was heard in a video plotting to 'tear up' Ghana be dealt with.
He urged the security to invite him for questioning because if this case is not handled well, it will encourage others to say or do anything and get away with it.
A Nigerian Professor at the University of Ghana by name Augustine Nwabara was heard in a video making the rounds on social media, inciting the Nigerian media and community in Ghana to strategize in how to destroy the image of Ghana to the world.
The Prof interacting with some Nigerians in the country asked them to 'tear up' Ghana in the eyes of the international community through negative reportage.

Some people are just bent on bringing politics everywhere. Your comments are simply childish and nauseating. You spewed a lot of garbage like the Nigeria ambassador and the copy and paste professor without any useful knowledge.
You mean to say freedom of expression does not extend to foreigners. What is this attempt to gag everybody. No one said Nigerians who violate the laws of Ghana should not be prosecuted. The talk talk is too much, leave the ambassador and the professor alone. They have done nothing wrong.
Five, including woman arrested for oil bunkering in Warri By This Day Five, including woman arrested for oil bunkering in Warri Five persons, including a woman, have been arrested, following a raid in Warri, Delta State, by the security arm of the Joint Task Force (JTF) a.k.a. Operation Restore Hope. The arrest of the suspected oil ***barred word*** in a raid at Arwol Waterside, near Main Market, Warri following a tip off, is coming on the heels of the handing over for further investigation by the JTF of five Ghanaians arrested recently with a ship filled with stolen crude oil. “The five Ghanaians and their Nigerian collaborator earlier arrested by JTF for engaging in illegal oil bunkering in Niger Delta have been handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for prosecution” a JTF statement said, saying, “This is in compliance with the Due Process and Rule of Law policies of the Federal Government.” Their Nigerian accomplice, who claimed to hail from Delta State was arrested along with the ghanaians; while the involvement in the illegal business by a Lagos-based businessman (owner of the vessel) is also reportedly being invested by security authorities. The suspects were arrested with quantity 7,225 litres of substance suspected to be AGO in the early hours of January 22. During preliminary investigations, suspects revealed that products were bought from Ayakurama Village where crude oil was illegally refined, a statement signed by JTF spokesman, Col. Rabe Abubakar said.. It gave the names of the five suspects as Madam Grace Couple (55) from Ogidigben Village, Ebi Alex (27) from Ogboguma Village and Thompson Maika (35) from Ayakurama Village in Burutu Local Government Area; Charlie Alex (37) from Orogo Village, Ughelli South Local Government Area and Kingsley Pira (25) from Obidigbe in Escravos Community, Warri South Local Government Area. The Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre (JMCC), Abubakar said: “The war on bunkering is an ongoing one,” adding, “The JTF would stop at nothing in sanitizing the Niger Delta region and setting it free from the grips of unpatriotic illegal oil ***barred word***.” The Ghanaian suspects, who simply told newsmen at the JTF headquarters, where they were paraded on January 5, 2009 that they were working for the businessman simply known as “Captain Ken based in Lagos,” and who allegedly hired the ship and brought it from Ghana into the Nigerian waters, supposedly for repairs. Moreover, the JTF, which carried out the arrest also appeared reluctant to take the confessional statements of the suspects as a possible lead that would enable them pursue and arrest the first real baron among the Niger-Delta oil ***barred word*** since its inception in 2003. The ship, whose original name is “SANDRA VELLETA LAGOS” but disguised as “MT HOPE”, was already loaded with suspected stolen crude oil “to the tone of 4, 000 metric tons – that is, 25, 000 barrels – which, if monetized, runs into millions of dollars”, the Joint Media Campaign Centre (JMCC) Co-ordinator, Abubakar, said. The 'leader' of the suspects, 42-year old Opoku Frank Anim, who is from Tema Region of Ghana, was apparently economical with details of their ill-fated voyage, his compatriot, Wellington Adobah (51) claimed that they were provided a local pilot by their employer, Captain Ken, and told they were taking the ship for repairs at the Escravos waters in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State. He claimed that when they entered the area, some speedboats with armed men intercepted their own vessel and forced them to change course until they arrived the Chanomi Creek where their 'captors' began loading the vessel indiscriminately with crude oil from a well head using many hoses at once. He further claimed that the Nigerian suspect, Ochukwu Omeorere had assured them that he had spoken with the said Captain Ken, who reportedly advised them to co-operate with those who seized the ship “because they are very dangerous people, but that they would ensure that our ship got out of the area safely.” Abubakar restated “the determination of the Commander JTF, Brigadier-General Rimtip, in fighting oil ***barred word*** to a standstill”, advising the youths to “take up legitimate economic activities, which would save them any harassment and sleeplessness. “The Federal Government is uncompromising in its stand and will, to eradicating illegal oil bunkering and militancy in this region through the JTF”, he said.
It is interesting, how elders of Nigeria are making reckless statement. Nobody is harassing you, most Nigerians in Ghana are engaging in fraudulent and criminal activities and you want us to keep quiet and watch you? Would you Nigerians tolerate such criminal behaviours from Ghanaians in Nigeria? There are good Nigerians going about their work peacefully. Mr. Commissioner why don't you tell the criminal Nigerians in Ghana to peacefully leave Ghana and go and continue in your country. Commissioner, you are disgrace to disciplined Nigerians. Shame on the professor and the commissioner. Any sensible Nigerian will not support neither the professor nor the commissioner Ghanaians love peace so don't destroy our peace and go back to your
Infact these ambassador and professor are really getting on my nerves.......How many genuine Nigerian's are being persecuted? If not for the Kumasi incident which genuine Negerian? Even in the case of the Kumasi, our political leaders are to be blamed....Foreigners are not to engage in retail business'e but what is happening? If every morning you wake up and an armed robber caught is a Nigerian, Kidnap happens, a Nigerian, Internet fraud Nigerian. Day in day out, a Nigerian is involved in something evil.....You mean for brotherliness or whatever you call it, the media should go easy on their reportage? All we are saying is, if the kuku stops the kiki too will stop. Tell the few country men of yours who are causing the trouble given you the bad publicity to stop. But do not over step them and rather advise us Ghanaians to stop. How many Ghanaians in your country are doing these things in your country? Behave as an ambassador before we demand your exit!!!
Ghana Immigration deport this crazy teacher immediately from Ghana as he is personae non grata
Listen to these Nigerians oo 'chaii"!! Ghana ! oh Ghana!! can you go to any other country and spew this ***barred word***? Nigerians are very bad and evil; if people are afraid to say it, I am not, I will say it as it is. They brought armed robbery to Ghana, They brought internet fraud to Ghana , and now they have successfully brought kidnapping to Ghana and we are sitting down quietly for this ***barred word*** professor to tell us; our universities that, his people are dying for, are not good. He is an evil we should not entertain him at allllllll.
Except the education part, I understand and share in his pain. It is not interesting to be labelled a criminal. However, our Nigerian brothers should also try and wh.i.p their brothers who are not law abiding in line. There are many genuine ones, but the few ones causing troubles are tainting the image of Nigeria.
What was wrong with what Prof. Nwagbara said? That his people should demand answers to why they are being victimized in Ghana, and that they should start writing and making documentaries about how they are being treated badly in Ghana, so he should be invited by the CID. Is that how far Ghana has descended in the reign of NPP's Akufo-Addo? We should be careful before we spark diplomatic row with Nigeria, like what happened during Busia's regime and the Nigerian's retaliated 2x. So Mr Security expert what is wrong with what the Nigerian Ambassador said? That his people are being target in the current Xenophobia in Ghana? Are we such sick as a nation now? What do you think it is when a mob nearly lynched a man simply because he was found around were a 4 year old what wandering? God save Ghana from NPP!
Because he spoke against your country you are hurt. What don't Ghanaians say about Nigeria. Even the most excellent Nigerian is stilled called a 419.
