Lieutenant Colonel Umar Sanda Ahmed, Chief Imam of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), on Thursday urged Ghanaians to live us one people and appreciate the importance of brotherhood.
He said: Ghana is the only nation we have, lets put all our efforts together to move the nation forward for our common good.
Lt. Col. Ahmed made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Burma Camp on the sidelines of the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers marking the climax of this years Ramadan fast.
He said the country needs peace to develop and that patience is the virtue needed to carry the citizens throughout the year.
Our outlook to national objectives should be underpinned by a moral call to do the right thing at the work place to improve the lot of society, he said.
Lt. Col. Ahmed said as Ghanaians and Muslims, we need to showcase the high level of tolerance and patience in our interactions with others either in business or politics.
Islam is based on five pillars, and fasting is one of them. At the end of Ramadan we come together to celebrate it is a day of victory and thanksgiving to Almighty Allah, he said.
