The Suhum Magistrate's Court presided over by Miss Kokuvie-Tay, on Wednesday sentenced the Managing Director of Silver Spoon Hotel at Suhum to a fine of GHďż˝ 100 for committing environmental offence.
In default, she would face three months imprisonment in hard labour.
The convict, Abena Anoba, charged with spillage of offensive effluent from septic tank into a public way pleaded guilty.
Mr Raymond Agbodo, Principal Environmental Officer, told the court that on November 24 this year, environmental officers on their normal rounds entered the working premises of Anoba.
He said in the course of the inspection, they detected that a septic tank serving the hotel facilities had serious structure defects leaking and spilling the effluent into public way.
She was therefore cautioned to remedy the situation to forestall an outbreak of cholera but failed and was therefore issued with summons.
