Some youth of Half-Assini have manually dug a deep trench to drain flooded water from the Methodist Junior High School to the main street of the town.
The exercise, which lasted about a week, has cleared the Captain William's road to enable the water to flow into the main drainage system.
The recent torrential rains that hit the Jomoro District left most parts of the town flooded, making them impassable and forced some schools, churches and other institutions to cease operation temporarily.
The Member of Parliament for the area, Wing Commander Francis Kabenla Anaman (rtd) has presented an excavator to the youth to enhance the work and commended them on their voluntarism.
