Pope Francis on Monday allowed all Roman Catholic priests the power to forgive abortion, a power previously reserved for bishops or special confessor.
Francis, who has made a more inclusive and forgiving church a characteristic of his papacy, made the announcement in a document known as an “apostolic letter” after Sunday’s close of the Catholic Church’s “Holy Year of Mercy”.
He said he wanted to “restate as firmly as he can that abortion is a grave sin, since it puts an end to an innocent life.”
“Lest any obstacle arise between the request for reconciliation and God’s forgiveness, I henceforth grant to all priests, in virtue of their ministry, the faculty to absolve those who have committed the sin of procured abortion…. I wish to restate as firmly as I can that abortion is a grave sin, since it puts an end to an innocent life.
In the same way, however, I can and must state that there is no sin that God’s mercy cannot reach and wipe away when it finds a repentant heart seeking to be reconciled with the Father. May every priest, therefore, be a guide, support and comfort to penitents on this journey of special reconciliation,” the Pope said.

Catholic leaders should stop leading people to hell
Ike, someone has asked you to read Matt 16:18-19. "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church and the powers of death shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. " The Pope is the Vicar of Christ on earth. It's not my gospel. That is The Gospel. I will humbly ask to find out on your own Who has the Authority to interpret the bible
So what happens to 1 John 1:9 "If We Confess our SINS, HE is faithful and just to forgive us and purify us from all unrighteousness". We - Man, Woman, Child, Youth, anyone who have accepted Jesus Christ as your lord and personal savior( John 1:12) Our SINS- Apostle John never categorized the sins but ***barred word*** is part, Abortion, murder etc are all part of the sins. HE - Apostle John was not referring to himself but Jesus. Thus the prerogative of forgiveness of sins lies on your confession to Jesus Christ.
I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND CAN A HUMAN HAVE THE RIGHT TO FORGIVE HIS FELLOW HUMAN & IF THATS THE CASE THEN IN WHOSE NAME
The Church is One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic. The gates of hell shall never prevail against it
Please go and read Matthew 16:18-19 and ask the Holy Spirit for the grace of obedience and understanding
@Revelations, you should have abstain from making any comments on this subject since you are not a Catholic as I believe. Referring the Holy Sea and for that matter Catholics as anti Christ is unfortunate. Be civil in your comments on religion. Contact any Catholic on any issue you have with the Church teaching. Catholics are proud being Catholics. Thanks Revelation
No being has the power to forgive sin. Indeed all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory. This self-enforced capacity to forgive sin by a sinful human (the pope) is just the trait of the anti-Christ. No one is equal or can be equal with God.
The anti-christ is fulfilling the prophecies.
