The Ghana Police Service has refuted claims that the recent dismissal of 206 police recruits was politically motivated.
There have been rumours that the new IGP, David Asante Apeatu caused the dismissal of the recruits who some believe are sympathizers of the now opposition party, the NDC, under whose reign they were recruited with the former under IGP John Kudalor presiding.
The Police Service on Friday sent some 206 new recruits parking home following the realization that they applied to join the service with forged documents.
Some of the dismissed recruits, did not meet the minimum qualification requirements for entry into the service, while others did not have certificates at all.
The IGP David Asante-Apeatu is said to have instructed recruits who applied with WASSCE to be re-vetted before admission while those who submitted BECE, NVTI, NABPTEX and City and Guilds certificates are to return home.
Speaking on Kasapa FM Monday, Director of Public Affairs of the Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur, stated that the move by the police heirarchy was purely administrative and was done in the best interest of the police service and Ghana by extention.
“It is not true that the dismissal was politically motivated. Those who are alleging so have politically inclined intentions, so they are doing so to achieve a certain motive or objective…it is certainly not true. Right from the time we started the process, we built check and scrutiny system into the process so that in the course of the process, those who are not qualified will be exposed. It is very unfortunate that ssome people are skewing the information this way, for whatever motive I don’t know.”

Investigation is needed to tell us why these unqualified people were recruited in the first place. We can't continue to run a country like this anymore.
Why were they recruited in the first place? Are they not supposed to be vetted before they're selected to start training? I don't get it. Were they protocol recruits or people who were forced on Ghana police?
Cephas Arthur is still at post? Idontbelieveit!
hahaha!! quite humorous
Bravo! Guess the Police is now sitting up
So did somebody change the entry qualification to allow these people to enter? There is indepth corruption in the Ghana Police Service. I believe COP Patrick Timbillah has been sacrificed for the benefit of others. Heads must roll.
OUR POLITICIANS IS MAKING STUPIDITYYY OF THE POLICE SERVICE. I PITY CEPHAS ARTHUR WHO HAS BECOME THE FACE OF THIS MOCKERY. AS A SPOKESPERSON HE MIGHT HAVE DEFENDED THE RECRUITMENT SUPERVISED BY THE FORMER IGP. NOW HOLDING THE SAME POSITION AS SPOKESPERSON HE IS PRAISING THE SACKING OF THOSE HE MIGHT HAVE DEFENDED. WHAT A SHAME AND INSULT. I PITY CEPHAS ARTHUR FOR HIS ROLE IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF THE TWO IGPS. I WISH THAT CEPHAS IS CHANGED TO SPARE HIM THAT INSULT AND HUMILIATION. IT PORTRAYS HIM AS A LIAR AND HYPOCRITE. THIS IS A MENTAL TORTURE TO THE MAN AND HOW COULD HE EXPLAIN THE CONTRADICTION TO HIS CHILDREN. MANY PEOPLE IN THE POLICE SERVICE WHO WERE NOT IDENTIFIED WITH FORMER IGP SHOULD BE PICK TO DO THE DIRTY WORKS OF THE INCOMING POLITICIANS. I NOW UNDERSTAND WHY THE POLITICAL APPOINTEES ARE MADE TO RESIGN OR DISMISSED AT THE CHANGE OF GOVERNMENT.
I tot Cephas Arthur retired with John Kudalor. Is he still there? Akoa yi nsuro nyame ooooo
