Ministers-designate for the President’s Special Development Initiatives, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has extended a hand of friendship to H. E. John Dramani Mahama, begging the former President to let it go of her sins against him.
The Awutu Senya East MP is on record to have insulted Mr Mahama during the 2016 electioneering campaign, likening him to a mad man in an interview she granted to Pink FM, a local radio station during the sod cutting ceremony of the Kasoa Western by-pass road network.
She is also reported by peacefmonline.com that Mr. Mahama was competing “with the devil for the crown emperor of lies and deceit” and the former Ghanaian leader was a serial liar.
However, on Tuesday when Hon. Hawa Koomson was being vetted by the Appointments Committee she told Members that she regrets using those unprintable words against the former President.
“Yes, I do regret using those words because it a political talk and I am sorry for that,” she humbly pleaded.
She added “I retract and apologize for using those words.”
She further told the Committee that when offered another opportunity she will not repeat those unprintable words again.

Question. Were people like Felix Ofosu Kwaakye and others went through this same vetting and never asked to withdraw or apologize to those they insulted? eg Kwaakye Fosu could say Dr Bawumia was a disgrace to his family and Ghana and was asked to apologize, Why now apology has become pass mark for NDC members on the committee.Did they ask Felix Ofosu to apologizes to Dr Bawumia at the time. Did the Ablakwa apologize to Nana Addo at the time? This is a wake up call to all politician .
(you) call a man like mahama a ***barred word*** because of cheap politics and you get a post as a minister.very inetresting
@ God Bless What has being forced rendering an apology got to do with being a Fante? She is a coward is that what you implied? Has Mahama apologise for calling Nana Addo OPANA?
Welcome to the apology committee.
Why use the vetting committee to extract apologies and retractions from minister designates. For me any apology rendered on such a platform isn't genuine.
Since when did the vetting committee become the apologizing committee. In fact the hippocracy on the part of the minority and some Ghanaians is too much. This Fmr. president told us that no matter what one does for Ashanti's they are ingrates, he replied Fmr president kuffour that he will use bulldozer to kill housefly and not hammer when mr Kuffour had said that the punishment they wanted to give to Mr.Kennedy Agyapong was like killing a housefly with hammer. He and his vice president mocked at Nana Addo referring to him as Opana and in some case he can see what we are doing because he is short man. On many platforms he insighted the north against the south and even said no one can criticise him unless fmr presidents. He watched and listened to his babies with sharp teeth like Kofi Adams, Koku Anyidaho,Asiedu Nkatiah,Fiifi Kwartey,Omane Boama, Kwaku Boahen,Anita Disoso and others to insult the clegy, Nana Addo, Bawumia and Ghanaians at large.Who is more arrogant than Nii Lamtey,Mahama Ayariga and Okujeto Ablakwa who are now championing the course of so called ''appologise to Fmr President Mahama before u a vertted in''. In fact this Parliament is a weak parliament and they must sit up. Does the requirements of this committee include appogising to ex-president Mmahama alone before u are allowed your Job. In fact it is high time Mr. Mahama himself comes out publicly to retract some of his unfortunate remarks and also appologise for watching his appointees to insult the clegy, chiefs, Nana Addo,Bawumia and Ghanaians. If he is able to do this then others will follow suit. What is good for the goose is equally good for the gander. By the way is it only the women who have to appologise? What a country and what a hypocricy and discrimination?
She apologized and did not beg. 2 different things So the minority 'infradicks' have promised to have everyone who condemned John Mahama to apologize to him. What will that do? Why are we so petty? Politicians should not be that thin-skinned. President Akufo Addo has not responded to the numerous hurtful insults rained on him. By the way, where is my 'homeboy' Twum Boafo?
Apologies should should be rendered freely not forced to do it. I dont get why some pple are so hang up about otiko not wanting to apologise. If one feels strongly about their convictions and opinions on something or someone, it's their prerogative and shouldn't be forced to retract. Get over yourselves and let us be. If mahama wants to apologise given the opportunity it's his own beef and that doesn't mean all should tow that line. It's about time pple should say what they mean and not kowtow under pressure. Otiko, big up yourself. You're not pompous or arrogant contrary to popular opinions. U are just a woman of principles and those who can't hack it should go burn themselves. The hypocrisy is just preposterous! What did these morons say when that little rat called mzbel said she wasn't going to apologise to nana addo? Did they say anything against it? What of the numerous occasions where Anita desoso insulted just about everyone in npp? Was she made to apologise before she was given positions? Blare yourselves wai.
Mentally deranged woman.
Even Mahama when given the chance would apologize for some of the things he said about Nana Addo so what is the big deal and reluctance with some not wanting to apologize where they went wrong. When Mahama was asking for forgiveness where he went wrong what did these people think he was doing. Only God is infallible, so when you fail and you are given the opportunity retract. The Kennedy Otiko was following has come to say he was joking, in effect retracting his words. Why couldn't Otiko do same. For my shoes, let me die...
