The Ashanti regional police commander has said he takes full blame for Thursday's Delta Force attack on a Circuit Court in Kumasi.
DCOP Ken Yeboah said the police committed an error by failing to anticipate the attack.
He, however, said he would not resign over the incident because he has corrected the error.
He spoke to Starr FM Friday.
Meanwhile, the 13 Delta Force escapees have turned themselves in to the Kumasi Central Police Command in the Ashanti Region after they were aided to run away from police custody in the aftermath of a Circuit Court hearing in connection with an earlier mayhem they perpetrated.
Saliu Akilu, Chairman of the pro-government security group, told Moro Awudu on Class91.3FM’s Executive Breakfast Show on Friday, 7 April that all the suspects turned themselves in on Thursday shortly after their other colleagues aided them to bolt.
The court siege followed a ruling by the judge to keep the 13, who were standing trial for assaulting the Regional Security Coordinator, in prison custody until 20 April.
After the mayhem, Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, warned the 13 to turn themselves in or get hunted. Inspector General of Police David Asante-Apeatu also told the media the police did not see the escape coming.
The Ghana Bar Association also issued a statement condemning the attack, describing it as an attack on the rule of law. Meanwhile, an ardent supporter of the vigilante group, MP Kennedy Agyapong, has rescinded his support for them.

I miss Kofi boakye
I am still trying to find reason to blame the Police. Globally, there is no example where a political problem is solved through effective law enforcement. Politically affiliated vigilante groups are created by political parties and their control is hinged on the political party concerned. Hon Kennedy Agyepong dared anybody to take the guys to court and hell will break loose. NPP, please and please seek political solution to recurrent problem and stop shifting blame to the Police. The Police can be very brutal in dealing with these vigilante groups but for national cohesion, they have walked a fine line so far. Let's not dare the police else we will soon reinvent police brutality in our democratic dispensation.
very ***barred word*** talk.you have corrected the error he said. but he is forgetting his failure to do the very job he claimed to have earn on merit to be at the position. also forgetting the trauma he has let behind at the people in the court room including the judge and the people of the country. if we learn to hire and fire quickly people would not take chances with their jobs cos there would be someone waiting for it
This is just the beginning of more serious troubles to come if the Police do not stamp their authority in the region. This group is behaving as if we are in the jungle. Are they the only once that voted for the NPP to come to power? hmmmm.
