The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) has said it would manage the Electricity Company of Ghana’s (ECG) Concession transaction in the interest of Ghanaians.
A statement issued by Pamela Djamson-Tettey, Director, Communication and Outreach of the MiDA, to the Ghana News Agency in Accra, said the Authority had received a letter from one of the Bidders expressing concern about the Government of Ghana’s Policy to have 51 per cent Ghanaian ownership in the structure of the Concession.
“MiDA wishes to assure all Ghanaians that it is managing the transaction on behalf of the Government of Ghana and will ensure the transaction is managed for the benefit of the people of Ghana,” it stated.

We don't need MiDA to manage any concession as there is no need, not a single need for it. It has never existed since it's establishment and Ghana and Ghanaians intend to keep it that way forever. That $119 million dollars which we stand to forfeit if we don't meet the deadlines, will be forfeited as that amount is about 1/10th the amount the past Mahama gov't stole in just 2 ministries Roads and Transport and Energy, which incidentally, is the same gov't that entered into this so-called concession. A whooping Ghc5.4 billion cedis which translates to about $1.2 billion dollars or more was stolen, according to the Auditor General's report between 2014-2016. Who in his or her right mind will even begin to think of the concession of ECG, a strategic state asset when your economic is about to explode exponentially? And they have plans to rope Togo into it as well....hmmmn. When they said WAPCo was going to supply almost 500 million standard cubic feet of gas, has anybody seen that volume of gas flowing through the pipes to grow the economy of the countries WAPCo was to serve? The ECG concession is a pipe dream, period. This is on Ghanaweb, wanted to comment but they censored it. Posting my two cents here. ECG is doing a very fantastic job and it should continue. If anybody feels and thinks Ghana's electricity distribution network is not delivering, they are at liberty to build one from scratch to compete to evacuate power to consumers.
