An ex-convict (name withheld) is urging the Police hierarchy to as a matter of urgency to make better use of ‘no nonsense’ Police Commissioner, Kofi Boakye and COP Tetteh Yohuno by tasking them to lead the fight against armed robbery which has been on the ascendancy in the past few days.
According to him, armed robbers dread the ‘tough’ and brave police officer, adding that he’s confident the return of COP Kofi Boakye onto the streets will put fear into the armed robbers and reduce the menace.
The ex-convict added that the immediate past Ashanti Regional Police Commander COP Nathan Kofi Boakye is wasting away as current Director of Research and Planning at the Police Headquarters.
His comments come on the back of the daylight armed robbery incident at Royal Motors at the North Industrial Area in Accra Tuesday where the robbers amidst sporadic gunshots succeeded in bolting with at least Gh¢500,000 of the company’s sales.
On Wednesday, armed robbers in Tema shot dead a Lebanese businessman believed to be working with soap manufacturing firm Delta Agro after he had visited the Zenith bank bolting with a cash sum of GHC200,000.
Before he became the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Kumasi, the second capital of Ghana was inundated with broad daylight robbery and hoodlum with impunity. Armed robbers were on shooting rampage, but his tenure saw such criminal activities reducing drastically due to the measure he introduced.
COP Tetteh Yohuno on the other hand, then Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) was given a special promotion to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) in January 2012 and had earlier in 2011 been awarded Grand Medal for his meritorious service in combating armed robbery and other criminal activities in the country.
Prior to that, as Divisional Commander for Accra Central from November 2007 to May 2009, Mr Yohuno doubled as Accra Regional Operations Commander.
He was later appointed Deputy Accra Regional Commander and rose to become the Regional Commander in 2013 until December 5, 2015.
Speaking on Kasapa FM, the ex-convict who spent 9 years on remand at the Nsawam Prison stated that is unfathomable how distinguished Police Commissioners like Kofi Boakye, Yohuno are being handled by the Police hierarchy, liking the situation to a tough striker being a reserved player in a soccer game while the team is trailing several goals.
“There are some police officers we’re worrying ourselves keeping them in the office, COP Kofi Boakye, COP Tetteh Yehunu, these are dread Policemen that armed robbers fear a lot. These people must be put on the grounds because they’ll pursue armed robbers and arrest them because they have people on the ground working with them and they have a lot of information.
“Armed robbers fear Kofi Boakye, especially our Nigerian brothers who are into armed robbery here, I can tell you for a fact that whenever they hear his name they become frightened. See, it’s about the person ooo, not the position you’re heading. When the Nigerians hear that Kofi Boakye has return to the streets, they’ll send back information to their country cautioning their fellow robbers not to come down to Ghana because he’s back in charge. They really fear that man.”

What the ex-convict said is 100% accurate. We all know who these two gentlemen are. Unfortunately, in this part of the world, when you are assertive and you carry out your duties without fear and favor, you are deemed as too known. All the top police capos know who these robbers are,,,,,I rest my case.
These armed robbers are the same garlamseyers that the government is preventing from destroying our environment.when u catch them, please check their background and where they come from. they are trying hard to push the governmet to the wall to abandon the pursuit of galamsey activities in the country.
The IGP is just a book worm and doesn't deserve to occupy that position....take him to the library!!!
hmm, this is deep!#letKBLeadOP, IGP!
Massa; the answer is simple some very Snr Police officers and politicians and some 'BIG Men' with cash are behind these armed robberies ; they know if they bring KB and Yohonno into the operational scene their source of income will be cut off ;KB will expose them BIG TIME !!!!!! Come on Ghanaians !!!!!!!just read between the lines ; there are very powerful people who are behind blocking these two caposs they are too hot to handle ; the current IGP is aware and afraid to do anything about it ; how come these armed robbers are well armed than our police and how come when these armed robbers are caught you have lawyers ready to go and release them ; these 'Big MEN' have specialised armed robbers and murderers who will murder for peanuts ; Kem Agyepong nearly got 'iced'; JB Danquah was murdered and today the case is hanging around -Ghana is full of powerful secret societies who control the police and use these riff-raffs poor unemployed boys who they pick from the gutter and polish them into armed robbery; the top men are SCARED of KPB and YOhumoo .
The ex convict can be a better IGP than the current one.
