Broadcast Journalist Napoleon Ato Kittoe has said he was robbed at gunpoint by a man in police uniform on Thursday morning.
The robber made away with GHC 1,000 after he accosted him around the Fiesta Royale Hotel at North Dzorwulu in Accra.
Napoleon narrated his ordeal in a post on his Facebook page, noting that he was taken to an ATM and forced to withdraw money for the robber.
Indications are that the robber had at least one accomplice because there was a taxi waiting for him after the robbery.
"I have news for the public. I was accosted around fiesta royale hotel by a man wearing police inspector uniform at 10:20am today. I was on my way to weija but the police man with gun who entered my car diverted me to korle bu where l was forcibly asked to withdraw money with ATM for him. The man demanded 8,500ghc but l withdrew 1,000ghc. He then left me and jumped into waiting taxi and it sped off. He said to me, are u not the broadcaster who travelled with presidents? Do it and have your peace"
Napoleon Ato Kittoe is one of the many victims of the escalated crime wave in the last month.
The Greater Accra Region has seen a number of brazen daylight attacks, some of which have resulted in the death of victims.
The police crackdown on crime during the period has seen close to 50 persons arrested along with a significant number of weapons seized.
Some robbers have also been killed in confrontations with the police.

Can the police check on this? IGP where are you? Has any officer been stationed on the N1 highway, if not, send plain clothed officers to investigate. The police are meant to protect not do this ***barred word*** thing. People should be on the lookout to ensure that this person gets arrested.
please add a pinch salt to this story. how could Ato drive all the way from Fiesta royal to Korlebu at 10 am without raising alarm.
He is not lying. i can identify with his story. this man in police uniform who claims to be called Amoako insisted that i had jumped the red light when i knew i had not. after a long period of argument he calls another person supposed to be his boss. this 'boss' insisted that i be locked up. At this point i was getting late for a mid morning program. to cut a long story short, he forced me to withdraw money from SSNIT at circle for him.
Atos story is true a police officer in full uniform did the same to me during a Christmas holiday in 2016. His mondus operandi is the same, he has a Taxi driver accomplice and operate on the N1 highway. Using the same means he succeeded in extorting 200ghc from me. The police and the publc should not dismiss Ato but rather look out for this plice miscreant
i do not believe this story.
Ato Kittoe does not want to state that it was a police man, have you all forgotten that some police men are operating as armed robbers. If you have experienced how it is to be robbed, you would have known that, looking at the robbers face is even difficult. Maybe the 'police man' showed him a gun and he was afraid to raise alarm. It is rather unfortunate.
From Fiesta to Korlebu at 10.20 AM, you couldnt meet any police operational unit on the road to stop and raise alarm. You must be smart next time
Such lies. Ato, shame on you. Your narration of the incident is even not intelligent!!!
this is complete ***barred word*** of a story. who will believe it?
The story isn't clear to me. Surprised he never took the number of the waiting car that the robbers bolted in. Did the robbers hold a pistol over his head at the ATM machine? This gentleman must come clear.
