The Inspector General of Police (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu, has directed the interdiction of three officers of the Rapid Deployment Force (RDF) of the Ghana Police Service.
The three officers, who have since been arrested, are reported to have sold an AK 47 rifle to a civilian at Weija.
Sergeant Stanley Mensah, Corporal Emmanuel Takyi and Corporal Simon Osei were arrested on Monday after they were mentioned by some suspected robbers, who suffered a motor accident on their way for operation.
A statement from the Service mentioned Ibrahim Tetteh as the civilian.
The officers and the civilian will be processed for court “without delay”, the statement signed by David Eklu, the Director General of Public Affairs, said.
“Meanwhile, the AK 47 rifle has been retrieved.”
