The NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Dome-Kwabenya constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Madam Sophia Karen Akuaku has stated categorically that she is not intimidated by her opponent, Adwoa Safos recent fanfare campaign launch in Taifa, a suburb of Accra, where a sea of party faithfuls turned up in their numbers to grace the occasion.
According to the NDC candidate, winning an election is not about having a flair for the dramatic neither does it have to do with ostentatious behavior nor the spectacular, but how well one can work to improve the lot of members in the constituency.
The New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate for Dome-Kwabenya constituency, Adwoa Safo, over the weekend launched her campaign attracting bigwigs in the party including former President John Agyekum Kufuor and the flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo among other dignitaries.
According to reports, the entire Taifa community and its surrounding areas came to a standstill as the party activists defied the intermittent downpour to turned up for the mammoth rally.
The joy of the gargantuan crowd virtually knew no bounds as they went berserk when the NPP flagbearer arrived at the venue.
Asked if the turn-out at the rally had shaken her resolve to snatch the seat from the NPP, Madam Karen Akuaku, who congratulated Adwoa Safo for a successful campaign launch, brazenly told Okay FMs Ade Akye Abia morning show host, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese in an interview that she is not perturbed by the NPPs fanfare in the constituency.
According to her, the NPP is noted for their showmanship and thus she was not at all moved by the crowd that was bused to Taifa during Adwoa Safos campaign launch.
If elections are won by virtue of attendance at big campaign platforms and huge rallies, which is what the NPP is known for, Nana Addo would have been the president of Ghana, because of the campaign he embarked on in 2008, she said.
Oozing optimism, the NDC Parliamentary aspirant stated that she will definitely win the Dome-Kwabenya seat since the NPP has failed the constituency for the past twelve years they have represented the interest of members of the community in Parliament.
She also took a swipe at Adwoa Safo, accusing her and her family of not contributing anything to better the welfare of the constituents. According to her, Adwoa Safos father is noted for manufacturing remarkable tractors yet as not even offered one for the re-construction of the Taifa road.
Adwoa Safos family uses a whole tank of water to wash their house every month, meanwhile the people of Taifa do not have access to clean good drinking water...the NPP can continue singing and organizing concerts but the people of Dome-Kwabenya will vote them off come December and give the NDC the chance to continue with its Better Ghana Agenda in the constituency, Sophia Karen Akuaku said.
