The Minority in Parliament has wished all contestants in todays district level elections the best of luck.
It, however, said against the background of the issues raised by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP ), it would have wished that a different and more credible voters register was used for today's elections.
It said while the outcome of the elections might not impinge on the nodal issues that the NPP had meticulously studied and unearthed, it was the expectation of the group that the elections would not becloud the necessary considerations that the Electoral Commission ( EC ) would have to accord the issues.
Addressing a press conference in Accra yesterday on the district level elections, the Minority Leader, Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, recollected events leading to the rescheduling from March, this year of the elections and noted that although the district assemblies had been dissolved, they had somehow continued their existence and made expenditures without the proper approving authority.
"Parliament and the Auditor-General should ensure that no improprieties have been committed in the interregnum, " he said.
