NPP’s John Boadu has claimed that the police used a substance believed to be “Poisonous” on Wednesday’s demonstrators.
He thus wants the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to with immediate effect investigate the substance which bruised many of the protestors.
John Boadu quizzed the FDA – whether it is appropriate for the police to use Nitric acid during its riot control exercise especially during demonstrations.
“The FDA must quickly have a look at this substance and its effect on people. I personally witnessed some police officers rushing to wash their faces after the nitric acid was thrown into the crowd, we cannot continue to have people always getting injured during peaceful demonstrations,” he said.
His comment comes days after the Police clashed with unarmed groups – namely, Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA), Alliance for Accountable Governance, (AFAG) and Movement for Change (MFC) as they chant for new voters’ register.
What is believed to be a peaceful demonstration ended in ‘horror’ - the police fired tear gas, water canon and beat some protesters who tried to veer off their approved root to the Electoral Commission office.
NPP’s guru, Gabby Otchere-Darko was flogged with horse whips giving him “Jesus stripes” at the back.
Speaking on PEACE FM’s morning show 'Kokrokoo', John Boadu described the incident as undemocratic and called for thorough investigation from the FDA into substances threw into the mist of the crowd by the police.
