Hundreds of mourners across the country have gathered at the forecourt of the State House in Accra to bid their final farewell to the late chairman of the New Patriotic Party Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey.
President John Mahama, former President John Kufuor and flagbearer of the opposition party Nana Akufo-Addo are expected to attend the funeral ceremony which is currently underway.
The former Minister Chief of Staff will be buried later today.
Jake who was a master strategist for the opposition party led the NPP into victory in the 2000 elections, died in London on March 19, where he was undergoing treatment.
He was minister of Tourism and Modernization of the Capital (2002–05) and Minister of Information.
He resigned his posts in July 2007 to campaign for the NPP nomination for the 2008 Presidential elections.
Jake was an advertising icon, managing one of Ghana’s leading advertising companies Lintas.
