The era of students carrying so many text books to school will soon be over as President Mahama has indicated that hos administration intends converting them into an electronic module.
According to him, the text books for the various core subjects will be converted into softwares which will be put on tablets and distributed to Junior High and Senior High School students.
“Students will receive tablets that have all their core subjects on the tablet. If the pilot is successful, the programme shall be expanded,” he said.
President Mahama assured that a lot will be seen under the education sector once Ghanaians renew his mandate on December 7, 2016.
“We will provide accommodation for teachers who will accept postings to rural areas,” he added.
The President made this known at the highlights of the NDC's 2016 manifesto, Tuesday.
Colleges For Training Nursery Teachers
A Mahama-led administration when elected into office will establish Colleges of Education to train teachers in early childhood care.
According to President Mahama "our commitment will be to establish colleges of education for the sole purpose of training teachers in early childhood care and development. What we have done is we have added the two years of kindergarten to our school system. Unfortunately, while we are training teachers for primary, junior high schools and senior high school, we are not training teachers for early childhood learning and so normally it is done by daycare attendants and normally if you give the child a good start at the kindergarten, they are able to maintain it throughout their education. So we’re going to set up colleges of education that will train teachers who are specialised in training children at the early level from four years and upwards”

Desperation paa ni3? promising the unachievable to retain power. oh Mahama!
Ghanaians judge for yourself ooooo. It has become clear that Nana Addo is a true leader and a vision bearer. He takes a step and all follow. He said in 2012 he will institute free SHS and they said it is impossible. Later people took it and said they are going to do progressively free SHS. In 2016 Nana Addo says One District One Factory, One village One Dam for the North and all are following him including the President. Now you hear everybody saying I will give one this one that. Ghanaians Nana Addo is the one we need to lead the Nation and not the copy and paste people. Nana Addo said he will create one region in the western region, we had the NDC and some stomach direction chiefs saying it will bring division and we want a united nation. Now NDC says they are going to create five more regions. So who is sincere and visionary? If the creation of one region Nana Addo is considered as divisive person then who is John Mahama who is going to create five regions. Ghanaians be wise.
Why will peace fm tarnish image of someone who got his image tarnish already? Even the social intervention programs near to a collapse... you could not maintain them?? every now and then teachers and nurses are going on strike coz of their salary.. you couldn't manage the economy well, you have to involve the IMF... And now you are saying what????? Do not take us for granted... you are total failure ...
go to sunyani presby jss and see. the parents buy tables and chairs. children whose parents do not have money to buy tables and chairs sit on the floor at this modern age. therefore those children without tables and chairs will put the tablet on what?
How many JHS SHS students in Ghana? How many are in private schools and how many in the public schools? How many JHS and SHS schools in Ghana have electricity in the classrooms?
Why do leaders make promises as if Ghana is out of this world. I am living abroad and even with all the good governing students still use books. I just paid for about 7 books for my son in school. Please Mahama. give us a break, book is not the same as tablet, especially in your dumsor world. You complaint that we have dumsor because of too many cell phones, what do you think we use to charge tablets, charcoal? How is the student going to do if he/she wakes up in the morning and the light did not come on so tablet has not been charged? Also tablets drop and crack, goodness what is Mahama thinking? I can punch more than 20 holes in this tablet proposition. Listen we are not ***barred word***, your time is up.
