The flag bearer of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, has taken a swipe at Nana Akufo-Addo, claiming the 72-year-old New Patriotic Party (NPP) flag bearer still lives in his father’s house despite his age.
Apart from saying Mr Akufo-Addo lacks the capacity to manage Ghana, Mr Ayariga said at 72, Nana Akufo-Addo should retire from politics.
Speaking on Class FM on Monday, September 26, Mr Ayariga said he had many successful businesses across the country which made him the best nominee for president in the December polls though he was not as boastful about his accomplishments as the flag bearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, who he claimed was going round describing himself as ‘adwumawura’ – creator of jobs.
Talking about his accomplishments, Mr Ayariga said: “I made my first $1million at the age of 24 without working with any government. I have never been in a government position; I have never worked as a Minister for you to say I have stolen government money. I built my first house at the age of 22…; at age 72, my senior and my father, Nana Akufo-Addo, is still living in his father’s house. At this age 72, I would have retired from politics and been advising young men of this country to move this country forward and not contest with them anymore.”
The former People’s National Convention flag bearer accused Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr Nduom of contributing to the hardship in the country. According to him, the two nominees have served in government before and, therefore, “they have contributed in building this country”.
“So, if they go round telling Ghanaians Ghana is in crisis and Ghana has become a difficult place for us to live and that we need a change, yes, let’s accept and believe that we need change but that change will not be a change from the NDC to any of them because if Ghana is in crisis, these people are part of the problem why Ghana is in crisis today, because they were given the opportunity to serve and have served,” the 2012 People’s National Convention presidential candidate explained.
Mr Akufo-Addo was the Foreign Affairs Minister and Attorney General in the erstwhile Kufour-led government while Dr Nduom served as the Minister of Private Sector Development.

If it's ignorance then let me give you a few lessons! The Nanka-Bruces leased their property out to Air Liquide and Equip sometime back. They reaped their profit and now have the property back. They have re-eased same out to Busy Internet and GRA! Do you know how they have invested the money? In similar vein, Nana and his siblings have LEASED out the property on which Societe Generale's head office sits now. After the lease period, the property and any developments REVERT to the Akufo Addo family! So while you are busy displaying c rass ignorance, the Akufo Addo family is laughing to the bank! ***barred word*** F0000ls!
Ayariga, I will advise you to see your Doctor before things become worse. Are you in your real sense. people like you want to rule ghana
People should stop insulting Ayariga. I think he is right. Nana has not been able to put up his own place of abode after many years practicing as a lawyer and even as minister. He is not a good example of development, probably the reason he doesn't see roads as necessary. Oluu boga.
You think this while not put food on our table? When a 72 year old man is still living in his father's house and want to be the president of our country, you think it's not a source of worry. To be honest I think it's a serious issue that must be considered. All the presidential candidates who is still living in his or her father's house. Even Ekua donor , odike or whatever they are called are not living in their father's house. If the argument is because Akufo Addo is not material, was the father material? In any case, is Akufo Addo the only child of the parent? What are the other siblings inheriting? If they also decide to live in their father's house what would've been happening? A man of a political stature of Akufo Addo should be living in his own house at least. If truth be told this man has not been able to manage himself well. When your father's leave you properties you build on it so your children and grandchildren children can have something to hold on to. But here is a man who has sold most of the father's properties. What did he use the money for? We must not put the destiny of this great country in the hands of people who have not achieve anything in life.
Fooooolish talk, you envy him because your father left nothing for you.
THIS WILL NOT PUT FOOD ON OUR TABLES,GHANAIANS ARE FAR AWAKE THIS TIME AND WE GOING TO VOTE ON ISSUES AND NOT WHO IS TALL OR SHORT.
