The First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region, Frederick Freduah Antoh has described the leadership of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as day dreamers over the 1 million votes target in this year's election.
The NDC has targeted 1 million votes in the Ashanti region.
The party says they are working hard to garner their target. President John Dramani Mahama has recently expressed strong optimism that, the NDC will garner the 1 million votes in the Ashanti region, a stronghold of the NPP; considering the infrastructural projects the governing party has undertaken during its time.
But FF Antoh in an interview with sit-in-host for Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, Kwabena Agyapong said, the Mahama led administration has brought nothing but misery to the people in the region.
According to him, the NDC has achieved nothing in their term despite the resources at their disposal.
He described President Mahama as a wicked person who hates the people in the Ashanti region.
He noted that, President Mahama to make matters worse, recently insulted residents in the region indicating that, if he [President Mahama], should asphalt their roads with gold, they will still not appreciate his efforts.
FF Antoh said, the 1 million votes targeted by the NDC is a mirage, its impossible because of the untold hardship, mismanagement, incompetence and youth unemployment, energy crisis which has affected businesses. So the NDC is only dreaming, he stressed.
He questioned if the so-called achievements being touted by President Mahama in the region, could be compared to what has been done in other regions. The residents in Ashanti region have always voted for Mahama but he has failed to give them their fair share of the national cake. When he was asked if the NPP has failed to identify the achievements of the NDC in Kumasi including the Military Hospital, he said, the funding for the hospital was procured by the erstwhile Kufour administration. On the Sofo Line expansion project in the region, FF Anto posited that, the NDC administration has only planted flowers around the project and nothing more.
Defeat according to him, is starring the NDC in the face. He said, maybe those who declared the 1 million target were not in their right frame of mind when they made the declaration.
Meanwhile, Joseph Yamin the Deputy National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has chided his colleague politician for making such comments. According to him, the NPP in Ashanti are only engaging in radio campaigns instead of going to the grass root to campaign.
The NPP he said will be extremely shocked after the December 7 results are declared.
The NDC he stressed is working extremely hard to ensure that, they achieve their target of 1 million votes in the Ashanti region.

The NPP should not take what NDC is saying for granted. They are confident because they hope their darling Charlotte Osei will help them slash NPP votes and add to theirs. Extreme vigilance across the country is what the party needs to do. The NDC's only hope is in the EC. They must be watched.
_F_F_ANTOH....... SOUNDS LIKE THE AKAN TETRAGRAMATONE OF A BUTTERFLY. ALL ONE NEEDS TO DO TO UNDERSTAND THE ACTUAL SOUND OF THIS OLD MAN'S NAME IS TO FIX IN THE VOWELS IN THIS ORDER. a BEFORE AND AFTER THE FIRST F AND r IN FRONT OF THE SECOND. WHEN YOU ARE ABLE TO DO THIS,,,, THEN VOILA.... YOU HAVE THE AKAN RENDITION OF THE FOUNA... BUT THE WONDER OF IT ALL IS THAT IT HAS A VOCAL CAVITY SO IT CAN SPEAK LIKE HUMAN. ONLY THAT WHEN IT DOES,,, IT DOESN'T MAKE SEN.S.E.
The NDC know that the they are only waging a psychological war in Ashanti. The region is the stronghold of NPP, so they only trying to psyche their supporters up.It is said that the best form of defence is attack. I think that, the best form of defence is defending well when there is counter attack. Ironically, Ashanti , which is the stronghold of the NPP is also NDC's third largest after Greater Accra and Volta.A heavy turnout by the non indigenes is problematic because 7 out of 10 have always chosen the NDC. Insinuations must give way to Persuasive politics . It is the surest way of breaking the resolve of the NDC sympathizers. Even 0.8million votes would catapult NDC to victory. We know where their weakness is,no intimidation but persuasion. Leadership is timing, time when to stand firm, time to bend and time not to react
