President John Mahama has said he cannot comprehend what informs Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s analysis on the economy.
According to him, it is difficult to appreciate why the NPP running mate continues to talk down the Ghanaian economy in spite of the ample evidence that the economy is on track.
“..Despite all the scientific basis even from outside...If somebody says the economy is going back, then I can’t understand, ‘I can’t think far, I can’t think madness’ but I know that it is propaganda because I have been a student of history, I have been a student of social psychology, a student of politics and others, so I know that when you want to win power you create a feeling of crisis; like the country is collapsing, and that is what they are doing here like it was done during the Brexit vote.
“ I can tell you on authority as President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces that this country is not in crisis and this country is not going backwards. She is going forward,” the president told students of the University of Ghana as part of his campaign in the Greater Accra region.
The comments come on the back of Dr. Bawumia’s attack on the President’s understanding of the economy in recent times. The former deputy governor of the Central bank has persistently described the President as incompetent in the discharge of his duties.

"No Ghanaian knows how much it cost." Those were Pres. Mahama's words in his complaint against the cedi re-denomination of the cedi. Well, Mr President, if that is the case, then how do you expect Dr Bawumia to know the cost? Even the then Governor of the BoG doesn't know it. Nor does anyone at the BoG knows it. Mr President, do you weigh your words when you mount a political platform? We can't forget what you said about the market fires which occurred after you took office. You insinuated in your speech at the Cape Coast stadium that they were caused by your political opponents. Yet you failed to reveal the findings of the American experts who were invited to investigate the fires. We can also not forget what you said to Nzimas when you toured the Western Region a couple of months ago, that they should not vote NPP because the party overthrew Nkrumah.
It is only going forward for Mahama, his family friends, and cronies.
Since Bawumia is a confused economist why dont u those who are not confused givre us a real lectures about the econonmy........propaganda is what will defeat u dec 7. nana b3ba oooo Jm twaso
Mr. President you are not an economist so if you don't understand. Bawumia on the economy perhaps we can forgive you. However to go about touting that the economy is on track cos even outsiders say so is discouraging to say the least. You the move from -ve B3 to +ve B3 should make you smile. B3 is the grade before C which signifies a failed state. So we are still too close to a failed state for comfort. Secondly why do you think excessive borrowing for infrastructural projects mainly is such a good thing. If a husband can't feed his family pay school fees bills etc because he has borrowed excessively to build a house which is un completed, so that all his salary pays debt but feels that because he borrowed excessively to build it is good he is wrong. He could have borrowed to do something productive and built gradually from his profits from business. Many marriages have failed under the burden of debt. Poor Mr. President I think he really hates being called incompetent. Poor guy.
PLEASE OO AM NOT SUFFERING. I REFUSED TO SUFFER AND I WILL NEVER SUFFER TOFIAKWA.
Mr. President is so unfit for the position he is occupying. All well meaning Ghanaians must join hands and vote against him in the upcoming elections. the president is tire, he is confused, he is frustrated, he is at his wits end and he wants to be free. We must help him to be free by voting him out. The presidency is too much a task for him to carry.
No wonder to type the most confusing comments
Hei Mr President. Your duty is to make us feel the economy is working on the market, in our schools, hospitals, on the roads and so on. Dr Bawumia took his information from reliable sources like the IMF, World Bank, etc. He openly organised a lecture and presented hard facts and figures. Its very discouraging that as a ruling government your outfit has not been able to counter his claim with facts but only propaganda and lies. No wonder your party was in the woods with no ideology till 2008 when you claimed to be social democrats. Which socialist or social democratic party has built a sound country in the world so far. At least it is good that you presented your views to students of Legon who can discern issues for themselves. The die is cast, Ghanaians have already decided that by His grace Nana Addo will be the next president of Ghana after the December 7th election
BAWUMIA IS THE MOST C 0 N FU S ED ECONOMIST IN GHANA!!!
Your INCOMPETENCE became more evident when you said 'As a President I don't know how much they spent on cedi re-denomination'. HAAAABA! Head of the economic management team for 4yrs and as President of Ghana for another 4yrs? NO WONDER GHANA IS IN THIS MESS! THE LEADER (JOHN MAHAMA) IS VERY, VERY, VERY INCOMPETENT!
