Parliament has finally approved the nomination of Hon John Oti Bless by the President as Deputy Minister designate for the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.
This follows the adoption of the 19th report of the Appointments Committee of Parliament on the nomination.
It would be recalled that, Parliament about two months ago, approved the nomination of Mr Emmanuel Bombande Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and Mr Emmanuel Tetteh Agmor Deputy Minister for the Eastern Region who were vetted by the Appointments Committee of Parliament together with Hon John Oti Bless.
However, the house deferred the approval of Hon Oti Bless' nomination at that time on the grounds that he had made disparaging remarks against the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood on an Accra-based Radio Station to whom Hon Bless later rendered an apology.
The Minority in making reference to the comments the appointee made on Montie FM, thought that he did not deserve the position.
Three other persons, Godwin Ako-Gunn, Alistair Nelson and Salifu Maase, aka Mugabe, who made similar remarks about the Chief Justice and justices of the supreme court, were imprisoned after they were found guilty of contempt of court.
The House, therefore, suspended the approval of Oti Bless' appointment even after he apologised for the comments.
But on Wednesday, the House approved the nomination of Hon Oti Bless without any controversy when the Speaker put the question before it.
He will however serve as deputy minister for just a month as the country prepares to go to the polls on December 7.

Very sad and shame only in Ghana cry for Ghana.
...AND HERE IS ANOTHER OF THE OTHER LIKES. HOPELESSLY INCOMPETENT CHOICE FROM BIRTH. IS MAHAMA SERIOUS AT ALL? SUCH MATERIAL? ...AND WHERE CAN YOU SEND THIS CHAP TO? AH? THIS IS EITHER NOT GHANA OR SOME ONE HAS GONE BIS-IRK.
It is of no use. A minister for 40days.What a shame. This is an insult. Only greedy bastards will do this.
What a waste of resources? This guy who should not be a minister is hurriedly confirmed just a month before elections so that he can get end of service benefits. I really do not think parliament thinks about our country enough. They worry about pleasing the executive. What is he going to do to change anything at the ministry in one month. It probably takes a couple of months to study and know the ministry well. What a shame!!!
So this guy is a minister? Oh Ghana; cry, oh cry, my beloved country! And to PADG, what do you mean by 'try and continuous process'? No wonder the country is being ruled by jokers!
Awurade Ghana, did we go or did we come?
