President John Dramani Mahama and the Eastern Regional Minister, Mavis Ama Frimpong, have apologized to the Okyeman Council on behalf of Bismarck Tawiah Boateng and Apau Wiredu Haruna, Regional Chairman and Youth Organizer respectively of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who were banned from entering the Okyenhene’s Ofori Panin Fie palace in Kyebi.
The Okyeman Council some months ago banned the two NDC executives of the party in the region for allegedly insulting the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, and dragging his name in the mud.
The regional minister reportedly knelt down before the Okyenhene and the Okyenhemaa, Nana Dokua, on Thursday pleading for Tawiah Boateng and Haruna Apau Wiredu during a closed-door meeting. This was when President Mahama and his team paid a courtesy call on the Okyenhene as part of their Eastern Regional campaign tour to seek re-election.
According to sources, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin expressed disgust for the leadership of the NDC for not showing any commitment to find solution to the impasse between the two regional executives and the Okyeman Traditional Council. The Okyenhene reportedly disclosed that it was only the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Aseidu Nketia and Ambassador Emmmanuel Victor Smith who once came to promise him [Okyenhene] that they woud parade the duo before him for an amicable resolution of the matter but they never showed up.
The spokesman for the Okyeman Traditional Council, Daniel Ofori Atta, disclosed to DAILY GUIDE that the president stood up before the Okyenhene and stated, “It seems a lot of people have lost moral value and go on the social media to insult leaders, which is very regrettable.”
Mr Ofori Atta said President Mahama claimed he was very sorry that after the reckless comments made by the duo, no effort had been made by the party to make the offenders apologize to the Okyenehene and the Traditional Council. He, as the leader of the NDC, rendered unqualified apology to the Okyeman on behalf of the executives, adding that he would ensure that Messrs Tawiah Boateng and Haruna Apau take steps to perform any customary rites that would finally resolve the impasse.
The Okyeman spokesman said the Okyenhene asked President Mahama and the regional minister to ask Bismarck Tawiah Boateng and Apau Wiredu Haruna to come and render apology to the Okyeman Traditional Council and publish same in the media.

Hmmmm Eastern Region. JM you are born to be a leader, apologies or not you are the president for Ghana from today to 2020
My fellow royalist your point is of gigantic relevance....my answer to you can be found in your name "me man nti". I'm sure your name was ringing in Okyenhene and Okyenhenemaa's minds when they hosted the president and his entourage. Stay blessed!
hehehe!!!! Votes nti. Why has the President not appologised till NOW? Okyeman, Asanteman, Okuapeman, Akwamuman, Kwahuman, Assinman, Denkyiraman, Sehwiman, wasaman, Fantis. The Kotoko Nzimas too wake up and vote out this disrespectul and aRrrrroooGants.
Because vote they are begging
Pleading,mr prez teach them to respect.
Okyenhene was too lenient to these people ,he should have thrown them out of his palace. If you a president, that doesn't make you to disrespect our kings and chiefs who are the main custodians of the land. A political party is formed to handle the resources and development if a country through voting so you come in through voting and you go out by the same means so you can't be disrespectful to the people who elected you. But royals are born not elected that is the difference and ndc should respect our traditional leaders, you are begging because ndc is going and these idi*ts will pay heavily for their insolence nothing will change the minds of the people which is made already, John Mahama is a failure and has no vision for the country and he is left to sending ndc babies with sharp teeth to go about biting everyone from their own founder and his wife to the least in Ghana. I always disagree with royals with good education being installed as kings and chiefs because they do not understand and do not do what exactly the customs and traditions demand. They have classmates which make them corrupt through those friends, they are exposed to the society which make them same as politicians. Our ancestral Kings and chiefs were more strict,Bold and brave than these ones who even some are not real royals but bought their stools. John Mahama could not have gone to that palace if it was the time of Ofori Atta 1.Dr Nkrumah couldn't enter Kumasi for sometime during the reign of Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh 11 because of some disagreement. Which later was settled by some imminent people including Krobo Edusei,if it were today he would have been met with dondo at the outskirts of the Ashanti region. This is how degraded our chieftaincy institution has gone. King makers must Stop giving stools to educated elites, they should use their education to sit in the office to help the nation and stop rushing for stools that doesn't belong to them and using that to do their business and disgracing that institution. There is no respect for today's Kings and Chiefs like yesteryear because those years they were confined in their palaces and didn't have classmates to see them so the respect was there and hardly would they agree with you unless it carried wisdom not now and not anymore. Ghana is messed up.
A step in the right direction thank you Mr prez
The guys in questions at that time said they had not done anything untoward. So where from the apologies and kneeling down.
