The Progressive People’s Party’s presidential candidate Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom has urged the people of the Upper East, Upper West and Northern regions to retire President John Dramani Mahama and their representatives in Ghana’s parliament for woefully failing them.
Speaking at a rally in Navrongo in the Upper East Region on a four-day tour, Dr Nduom stated that if members of the public were given any gifts by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), they should accept it but vote against Mr Mahama for his failure to develop the country.
“If you vote for someone for four years and he is unable to deliver, you retire him. If they give you money, take it and Insha Allah vote against them,” he charged.
He stated that Ghana in its current state needed help, which could only come from the PPP.
Dr Nduom told the people that the region was the second poorest in Ghana despite the numerous natural resources there. He observed that the people in the region were hardworking but poor leadership by the incumbent NDC had failed them.
Dr Nduom added that the three regions had bad roads, dilapidated schools or none at all in some cases, no potable water in most parts, and lacked jobs, thus, should vote for change and support the PPP’s economic transformational agenda.
“Bring your current MPs (Members of Parliament) home. Mahama should go home, he has failed you. Vote for Papa Kwesi Nduom to be president. I have the track record. You can count on me for accelerated development and jobs. Your MPs and the president have done nothing for you to deserve another four years,” he added.
“…All over the world, change is happening. Same should happen in Ghana. Today, a man who nobody thought would be president has been elected in America. Same has happened in countries such as Benin. I will be next and people will be shocked. Help make that happen,” he charged the people.
According to the three-time presidential candidate, President Mahama's promise to create 3 million jobs if re-elected is a sign of desperation.
For him, if Mr Mahama has been in government for almost eight years and was capable of bringing such jobs, the signs would have been evident.
Dr Nduom warned that four more years for President Mahama would bring untold hardships.
Dr Nduom is not the first person to have urged the electorate to accept goodies from Mr Mahama and the NDC but reject them at the polls. Last week, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, vice-presidential candidate of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) made the same call.
He told voters in Bunkpurugu in the Northern Region that Mr Mahama and the NDC are using goodies to hoodwink Ghanaians into voting for them because they have failed the country.
“Because the NDC has not done any work, you see that they don’t have a message so when I leave here, when we all leave here in a few days’ time, you will see that the NDC will come, they will come with propaganda; but most importantly they will come with goodies.
“…My advice to you is that, when they come, collect the motorbikes, sewing machines; and collect the monies and spend it very well because this is your own money, this is money they should have used to develop you, so collect it, it’s your money.
“It’s coming, you wait, you will see them coming with it in trucks, when they come collect it, it is the money that they should have used for the schools, roads, hospitals, the money that they should have used to subsidise fertiliser, they have not done that, they have chopped this money and they have now come to bribe us with this money to be able to vote for them. Chop it well and vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” he said.
The flag bearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo Addo, has also warned Ghanaians to be wary of the NDC’s gifts. “…As election draws closer, expect more goodies from this government; we are going to see this and that. They are going to spend a lot of money on freebies in a way to convince you to vote for them.”
Meanwhile, Dr Nduom did not spare Mr Akufo-Addo in his address. He wondered where he had been all these years for him to now be promising to build a factory in each district.
Dr Nduom is expected to round off his campaign and move to the Central Region for a rally on Saturday, November 12 in Mankessim.

Dr. Nduom be in your lane, don't trespass to any opposition since Akufo Addo has never mentioned your name in anything,if you want to be president say what you can do for the nation and stop attacking opposition leaders. You were in opposition like Nana Addo why didn't you also implement your message if you are asking why he didn't implement his one district one factory, how can he do that when he is not yet the president? Be in your lane to overthrow John mahama instead of Nana Akufo Addo.If you need members try to convince the ndc footsoldiers to follow you and stop attacking Nana. NPP doesn' t belong to him like you own PPP so followers of NPP are all stake Holders and are not ready to join a one man show party.
AKUFO ADDO THE LEADER GHANA NEEDS. Many Ghanaians say laws in Ghana do NOT work because if you are somebody in a society and commit a crime you can go untouched but if you are poor in society the laws of the land can hook you. This man Akufo Addo has been tested and approved to be law abiding son of the land. Luckily enough he chose two careers in his entire life which are LAW AND POLITICS, these have made Ghanaians to assess him as a person. Looking at what is happening in his party and the way he has handled the situation makes one to believe that he understands fully the rule of law, he made the appropriate quarters dealt with the case and suspended the culprits although he is the flag bearer. Again Gitmo 2 detainee saga. This shows that if he becomes president of Ghana the systems of law and politics would be allowed to work for the betterment of the citizens unlike the present govt. that someone goes contrary to the law somewhere and will be posted to the presidency to cover up the wrong doing because of elections. Everyone has a dream and the one who keeps his/her dreams for longer time learns much about the dreams and can execute them very well. This is the man Nana Akufo-Addo. Despite all names/malign that the opponent has tagged him of he has never responded to even one, what a man with a BIG heart! Ghanaians MUST give Nana Addo the opportunity to exhibit his God-given talent for the benefit of mother Ghana. GHANA ARISE 4 CHANGE !
