The United States Embassy in Ghana says it will not hesitate to "consider" the option of "denying and revoking visas" to Ghanaians who incite political violence.
Whiles acknowledging that campaigns can "be vigorous and sometimes contentious" the Embassy voiced out its condemnation of "political violence in Ghana, especially any violent acts directed at political candidates, their homes or families".
It has therefore called on all political "actors to remain peaceful and respect the democratic process."
In a statement issued hours after a clash between some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), in front of the Nima residence the NPP Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, during a health walk organised by the former, the US Embassy, whiles touting the country's tradition of peaceful, democratic elections, pointed out that "the government of the United States does not support a particular candidate or a particular party. We support democracy."
"In the period leading up to and following Ghana’s elections on December 7, we call on all actors to remain peaceful and respect the democratic process. We encourage all parties to make it clear to their constituents that any violence or attempts to use intimidation to disrupt the democratic process is unacceptable.
The United States will consider all options to hold responsible those who incite political violence, including denying or revoking visas," the statement partly read.

STATEMENT ON THE PEACEFUL ELECTORAL PROCESS IN GHANA
ACCRA, GHANA - The United States condemns all political violence in Ghana, especially any violent acts directed at political candidates, their homes or families. While campaigns can be vigorous and sometimes contentious, violence has no place in the electoral process.
In the period leading up to and following Ghana’s elections on December 7, we call on all actors to remain peaceful and respect the democratic process. We encourage all parties to make it clear to their constituents that any violence or attempts to use intimidation to disrupt the democratic process is unacceptable.
The United States will consider all options to hold responsible those who incite political violence, including denying or revoking visas. The United States applauds Ghana’s tradition of peaceful, democratic elections.
The international community is working with the Electoral Commission, National and Regional Peace Councils, NGOs, civil society organizations, the media, the police and others to support Ghana’s efforts to hold credible and nonviolent presidential elections. We urge all to participate peacefully in the democratic process—before, during and after Election Day.
The government of the United States does not support a particular candidate or a particular party. We support democracy. We will continue to work with the freely elected government of Ghana, just as we always have.

This Guy is protecting us and we are talking traasshhhh. Who among us here commenting now will not be affected when SHIIIITTTY happens? If the Presidoooo dont warn Ghana people, the Great white Man will. Afterall he has more intelligence (INFO) than all of US here combined.
THIS WAS NOT A CLASH. IT was an ATTACK. The private residence of the flagbearer was ATTACKED. It cannot be deemed a "clash". When people show up to your house and throw stones at your house it is an ATTACK. NOT A CLASH.
Is no more toast bt sanwakyi
Please Mr Ambassador what have your president and the police done when Oakland, California and all the cities in the states are being set on fire since 11/9?What happened after Trump won is a disgrace to democracy. So please
Please do not be DUMM !!!!!!and a sickler ; the ambassador knows what he is talking about ; the US ; UK and Europe are not heaven but have you being to heaven if you have then how do you compare heaven to to America and if heaven is so good why are people not rushing to go to heaven including yourself but rather spend their time in long queues lined up at the US embassay for visas besides why do you think these politicians are attempting to seek visas to enable the run away from Ghana.
The Ambassador surely knows those Ministers and family members who in anticipation of disturbances in the country during the elections have come for Visas! He knows fully well by how much protocol allocation of visa has increased from Ministers and party functionaries over the past few weeks......He certainly knows what he is talking about!!
The US embassy has the right to condemn any acts of violence since that is not what we want as a nation but to threaten to revoke of deny visas is rather here nor there, after all some of us prefers Ghana to USA. America is not heaven on earth period
Which party has ever used rape of women, killing of women, sputtering of dead bodies in Ghana to win power? Which party has ever had members cutting themselves and feigning being cut to court public sympathy? What did NPP display at Atiwa that the presidential candidate boasts off? These are the people NDC and Ghanaians are dealing with. They go and spoil the water upstream and come downstream to blame others. That is why His Excellency fmr president JJ Rawlings, who survived many coup attempts and incursions-"the NDC strategist" advised the NDC, do not deal with them on their terms because you cannot match them (they can be very wicked, if not deadly).
