THE NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) appears to be overwhelmed with internal strife over the party’s humiliating defeat in the Wednesday, December 7, 2016 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Since the defeat – which may probably be felt after the party has handed over power to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on January 7, 2017 – things have not been the same, with activists of the NDC going after their leaders for ‘supervising’ the defeat.
Supporters and activists of the outgoing governing party are peeved with the executives for woefully failing to deliver victory for President John Mahama, thereby sending the party into opposition.
They wondered why the leadership sat aloof for the NPP to snatch power from them without protest.
Party’s founder, Jerry John Rawlings, was said to have visited the party headquarters on Monday to access the situation.
National Coordinator of NDC’s 2016 elections campaign team, Kofi Adams; Siidi Abubakar and Fred Agbenyo, National Youth Organizer and Deputy Communications Officer of the NDC respectively, have been accused by angry supporters of doing what they described as “lazy jobs” during the elections.
They have also accused the officers of pocketing money meant for the campaign and stinting those who could do the work of cash.
The supporters have been attacking the NDC’s executives, threatening to beat up some of them. Some have allegedly gone to the level of issuing death threats on some of the executives like Kofi Adams.
On Monday, they stormed the party’s Greater Accra Regional head office clad in red cloths with red bands tied around their heads and hands to drum home their displeasure. The Regional Chairman, Ade Coker, was nearly beaten up for dropping the party’s parliamentary seats from 20 to 13 while the rival NPP jumped from 14 to 21 under his watch.
Siidi Abubakar was also attacked at the national headquarters at Adabraka when he was organizing a press conference to ostensibly condemn the New Patriotic Party concerning reports of purported attacks on NDC supporters.
An aggrieved activist of the NDC reportedly disrupted the said press conference, saying the Youth Organiser should be ashamed of himself for not helping the party to win the elections.
The activist, according to reports, nearly fought Siidi Abubakar, claiming the NDC National Youth Organizer failed to campaign for the party as Sammy Awuku, National Youth Organizer of the NPP did, claiming that Abubakar rather used the monies given him for campaign activities allegedly for his personal gains.
Ade Coker, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, NDC’s Director of Elections and other bigwigs of the party were under attack by their supporters who believed they were responsible for Mahama’s defeat.
Kumasi Office Locked
In Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, where the NDC had hoped to secure 1.5 million votes, Citi Fm reported that some members of the party woke up to find the head office locked up by a known party activist, Yakubu Tony Aidoo.
Angry Tony Aidoo, according to reports, took the decision to punish the executives, who in his view, were responsible for the massive defeat.
He was reported to have said the party executives failed to use monies allocated for the campaign judiciously.
IT Failure
President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo, flogged Mr. Mahama in the presidential election with a margin of over one million votes.
Mr. Adams has since accepted responsibility of the NDC’s defeat, blaming his inability to secure victory for the party on IT failure.
Yamoah Ponkoh Fumes
But former Ejisu Juabeng Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, has reportedly stated that Kofi Adams should be killed for the party’s defeat.
He blamed the humiliating defeat of President Mahama and the NDC on the incompetence of the party’s campaign team, which Kofi Adams headed.
“I laughed it off when I heard Kofi Adams saying he should be blamed for our defeat. He should stop irritating our ears; why should he accept the blame, why did he accept to be the National Campaign Coordinator when he knew that he was going to fail us?” He queried.
Ponkoh continued, “I mean, why? It is an unforgivable sin. Andy Okrah and Kofi Adams need to be hanged for our defeat. They should have humbly rejected the offers when they were appointed. They have no excuse to give.”
Speaking on Kumasi-based Abusua FM Tuesday, Yamoah Ponkoh said the defeat was a serious blow to the NDC.
He suggested a death sentence for the Ashanti Regional NDC 2016 Campaign Coordinator, Andy Osei Okrah, alleging that he caused the party’s defeat in the region.
“He needs to be hanged because he has committed a serious crime against humanity,” the ex-MCE for Ejisu/Juaben fumed, adding that Mr. Okrah’s inefficiencies led to the NDC’s defeat.
According to Yamoah Ponkoh, “This defeat is a serious blow to us. We are now going to feel the impact of our loss; our supporters are being vilified, killed, beaten everyday by the New Patriotic Party supporters. Watch the space; the harassment will be worse after the president-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is sworn into office.”

More to come !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enough of the school boy drama. Who is "killing" NDC people? Is your party not still in government? Are you guys not buying everything you can see before you have to go on January 7th? Are you not recruiting people left, right and centre into the security services? And then you turn round and say your own party man should be "HANGED"???? And you then you accuse other people of being VIOLENT???! Tweeaaaaaaa.............
Well don't forget that whatever goes around comes around. You guys did worse to the NPP in 2012,
SO NOW WE ARE ALL SEEING THE REAL CHARACTER OF NDC. SOMEBODY SHOULD BE KILLED BECAUSE THEY LOST ELLECTION.WHAT KIND OF BLOOD THIRSTY GROUP OF POEPLE ARE THYESE? I DO NOT BLAME THEM THE PARTY ITSELF WAS FORMED ON THE BLOOD OF INNOCENT POEPLE. POEPLE HAD TO BE KILLED INCLUDING PRESIDENTS FOR THE PARTY TO WIN ELECTIONS. SO WHY WILL THEY NOT SUGGEST THAT THEY KILL THEIR CAMPAIGN MANAGER?
From where i sit, some of us knew a humiliating defeat starred our party in the face when our founder, Torgbi Nutifafa, was virtually ostracized by minnows who had not even cut teeth in Prez. Rawlings' time under the watch of JDM. He JDM must bear responsibility for our shameful loss for superintending over indiscipline, arrogance and abuse of power, plain ***barred word*** and neglect of the grassroots as well as not listening to good counsel from Prez. Rawlings. Now to my beef; President Mahama: You got it wrong from the onset in making very flawed appointments in your government through influence peddlers. I cannot count the number of times some of us pointed out to you the poor output of your appointees to no effect. Most of your appointees are square pegs in round holes and as to why you refused to fire or change them, only you can tell. Your MCEs and DCEs have been the worst so far, with some not having a clue as to their core deliverables. All they know is how to stash away money meant for development programs so they can sponsor themselves during parliamentary primaries. Why? Supervision ( M & E ) is nonexistent in your government which informs why a whole sector minister can LIE to you and still be at post - eastern corridor roads. A serious baggage you have carried all this while and refused to change despite very good advice is your finance minister. Please, look for Mr. E. F. Asamoah ( DC Ops IRS under late Prez Mills) who started the VAT service. Ask him about your finance minister's capabilities and update yourself. You failed us and yourself in mimicking the NPP's traditions by playing the elitist game. Instead of detailing and galvanizing the grassroots across the country through your appointees, you rather spent a good amount of cash on fancy gadgetry and so - called "stars" with no bearing or influence whatsoever on the electorate. Sad. Party Leadership; Making noises is very different from being an effective leader. Sadly, our great party rather celebrates form over substance these days. Granted that we do have a few tried and tested people in leadership, they should have been more APPROACHABLE and accessible to the grassroots. ***barred word*** and opportunists with no history in the party suddenly appeared, insulted people via media a couple of times, got appointed into roles and here we are today. Na who cause am? Over the years, i have been asking myself and wondering if the party had a YOUTH organizer. Not once did i hear of him visiting and organizing a program with grassroots participation anywhere in Ghana. And, what was the noise he spewed a couple of days ago? That Sidi guy must be whipped by party faithful for failing to show leadership as a youth organizer. What has he been doing with his yearly budget? Building guest houses, buying posh cars and chasing buxom babes, abi? He seriously needs mentoring by Sammy Awuku for any future contest or employment. As for general mosquito, he should find a way to make peace with Prez Rawlings, ask for forgiveness and ensure that people who have disrespected the great man all these years, do same. President Rawlings must play an active role in our party if we are serious about ever returning to power. I will be back with details of the ***barred word*** that has been perpetuated on us, especially by our own kith and kin in the north. On my mind are Azorka and his cabal in Tamale, Gilbert Iddi and the SADA debacle and a few others.
A house divided against itself shall surely fall. While Ade Cocker(Hope the spelling is right) attacked the President elect of staging divisions in the NPP party, unknown to Ghanaians they were leaking their wounds secretly in Central Region and others while portraying their opponents as violent and so forth. Shame to all these dishonest leadership of NDC.
Very united front indeed!!! Blame? Let me tell you those to blame: the people of Ghana did not want your arrogance anymore; they hated JDM's corruption, bribery and shallowness/incompetence; they hated the Mahama-led villifications, attacks and insults on Nana Addo (who showed a lot of comportment and focus); they hated that instead of campaigning on NDC policies they were from the Presidency to NDC celebrities to the party Hgts making Nana-Bawumia their campaign. Above all, they hated the corruption and hardships inflicted on them by the government of JDM. The head was rotten and complacent (see how JDM boasted and Amissa dodged issues). Above all, NPP did a good campaign and also pressured the EC to do the right thing. The process and results of the election showed that 2012 was indeed stolen. I rest my case.
MY DEAR AKATAMANSONIAS, WHY THE FIGHT? THE MATTER IS THAT WE HAVE LOST THE ELECTIONS AND LET THE BYGONES BE BYGONE. WE ALL DIDN'T DO OUR WORK WELL N WE LOST. BUT KINDLY NOTE THAT THE NPP WOULD HAVE BEEN A ***barred word*** TO BE IN OPPOSITION FOR 12YRS. DO U THINK ITS EASY? JOHN MAHAMA WAS MY WORRIED BUT HE HAS ACCEPTED DEFEAT WHICH BROUGHT SOME HAPPINESS IN MY HEART. LET IT GO N LETS START DOING OUR HOMEWORK FROM NOW. ANYWAY I WILL START BY COMING FOR A PARTY CARD.
