The president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will today, hold a crunch meeting with members of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) National Executive Committee (NEC) to discuss the way forward after winning the general elections.
It would be the first time that the President-Elect would officially meet with his party's NEC.
Sources close to the party's headquarters told the Ghanaian Times that top on the agenda is the scrutiny of his list of nominees for ministerial appointments.
It said Ken Ofori-Atta, formerly of Data Bank, is slated for the Ministry of Finance, Nana Akomea for Communications, Dan Botwe for Local Government, Ambrose Dery for the interior, and Dominic Nitiwul for Defence.
The source added that either Frema Osei Opare or Sherry Ayorkor Botchwey has been penciled for the Foreign Affairs Ministry and Philip Addison or Ayikoi Otoo for Attorney General and Ministry of Justice.
Another proposal to be tabled at today's meeting , our sources said, would be the President-elect's decision to reduce the number of ministries and re-alien others.
The number of ministries, which currently stands at 24, may be pruned down to 19.
It said the Ministries of youth and Sports, Power, Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs, Fisheries and Roads and Highways could be scrapped.
The Ministries of Fisheries, power, Roads and Highways would be integrated into Ministries of Food and Agriculture, Energy and Transport.
"That of youth and Sports would be split among three ministries, and Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs brought under Local Government and Rural Development," the sources added.
Most of the ministries may also be reconstituted and renamed in line with the President-elects vision to achieve accelerated development.
The 29-member NEC comprises party officials such as the National Chairman, past presidents, past vice presidents, sitting president, sitting vice president, general secretaries (present and past), among others.

i agree he scraps some of the ministries and if its well done, the impact will be good, rather than bad. some of the ministries are clearly job for the boys. good luck
No Ashanti mentioned. We warned you but you would not listen. All the juicy posts for the Akyems. I am happy that the Dwarf has started exhibiting his tribalistic traits earlier than expected. He has proven us right. After voting massively for him, this is your reward. But wait. You haven't seen anything yet. Wait till he starts treating your King with the kind of disrespectful attitude he is noted for and elevates the Akyem Abuakwa hene to the status of your king. No tears for the Ashantis.
It seems you're still pained of the loss. Take heart bro. Now just accept the fact that the npp has won and deal with it.these men and women are far far better than the babies in your party. Don't you wish the NDC had the kind of human resource the npp can boast of??
Ken Ofori Atta for ministry of finance? My God, we are doomed. A strategy to loot state coffers for the Akyem Mafia.
Failure in advance, scraping some 5 ministries will already lead to unemployment, inexperience Nitiwul to manage the defence ministry is a chaos already, Ken Ofori Atta taking over the office of Ghana money(finance) is another blunder and ploy to share and loot among family members. Disappointment in advance.
Wishers of doom... God will punish you and your entire generation. The Battle is the lord !!
Now clearly there's a difference between these highly experienced ministers vs the "things" opana attempted to rule Ghana with . Those ministers were thugs and petty ***barred word*** with the exception of Spio Garbrah and Hannah Tetteh there was no sensible minister in that government
speculations
The beginning of the failure frema opare - a non entity Nitiwul - appeasement ken ofri atta - cronyism Nana Akomea - tribalism ayorkor botcway - mediocrity
