Sammy Awuku, the National Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has diagnosed the defeat of President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 elections.
Contributing to Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Sammy Awuku told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the NPP defeated the NDC in a landslide during the general elections because of the latter's display of arrogance over Ghanaians.
According to him, any government that exhibits signs of arrogance and pride will be punished by Ghanaians because "they feel that, look, the power belongs to them. They’re giving it to you and at any point in time, they can still snatch it back from your hands.”
Sammy Awuku noted that the NDC Communicators failed to learn their lessons after defeating the erstwhile Kufour administration.
He said they rather repeated the same mistakes that the NPP committed to cede power to the Mills/Mahama administration.
“In 2008, some of Communicators focused even on the health of Professor Mills. In 2016, the NDC took so much pride . . . We should be modest even in government. Now, I’ve come to understand that no amount of development that you give them and when you finish, and exhibit acts and signs of arrogance; they will punish you.”
Sammy Awuku commended Ghanaians for voting massively for the Nana Addo-led NPP government.
“This victory is victory for all Ghanaians. The Ghanaian people punished the NDC because of their insensitivity towards their plight. They punished the NDC because it reached a point where the NDC made Ghana as their property and so you can have your say, and they will have their way . . . The ordinary Ghanaian owned the NPP’s campaign. The mistakes that we committed in 2008 and let me concede, the NDC were doing it with the speed of Usian Bolt," he said.

NPP GURUS WHO GRANT INTERVIEWS TO THE MEDIA SHOULD STOP AND LET YOUR NEC SELECT PARTICULAR PERSONS WHO WOULD BE ANSWERING CALLS ON BEHALF OF THE PARTY. NDC MADE SAME MISTAKES BY ALLOWING ANY OF THEIR FAITHFULS ANSWER MEDIA CALLS, HOWEVER THEY ENDED UP PLAYING PROPER-GANDER ON IMPORTANT ISSUES WHICH HAS CAUSED THEIR DOWNFALL.
Kiddo ***barred word***. The same way NDC were shown the exit, 4 or 8 years from now it will be your turn. Stop been on the news 24/7. Is ANNOYING.
SAMMY WHEN YOU ARE IN GOVT YOU HAVE TO STOP TALKING BY HEART ABAH! YOU ARE NOW ANOTHER BABY WITH SHARP TEETH! SHUT THE HELL UP!
Oooh so it's not that the NDC didn't perform???? Interesting heh
Yea I totally agree with Sammy on this, when politicians sits on the throne for a very long time, they tend to forget that some people voted them into power. They talk anyhow, move around as if they own this country forever. But time gives the electorate the chance to show them who this country belongs. I hope that NPP will learn a lesson from this but I doubt.
Good talk by Sammy Awuku, this means the young men who will be appointed as ministers/deputy ministers/government communicators should be very careful when speaking to the public, avoid arrogance, never insult elderly people even if you disagree with them, don't boast, be humble, make yourself accessible to the party youth and you would have won the heart of Ghanaians, never never behave like Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Koku Anyidoho,Fiifi Kwetey,Sam George, Solomon Nkansah,Kofi Adams, these were the boys who led the way for John Mahama to fall. We are watching, Ghanaians have demonstrated in the 2016 elections that the presidency is no longer eight years guarantee, your attitude/output will determine whether you qualify for a second term or not, Mahama did all the infrastructure you can think of, but the arrogant posture of these boys brought him down, i cant think far, hmmmnnn.
Sammy Awuku has misfired, I am afraid. The populace have thrown out the NDC administration under John Dramanai Mahama (and John Atta-Mills) for flagrantly mismanaging the economy of the Republic. They stole and kept stealing the moneys of the state that never could be theirs by any stretch of the imagination. They kept telling sordid lies that hurt the intelligence of the Ghanaian citizen. They pursued absolutely wrong policies that hurt woefully the health and the healthy growth of the economy. They paid to misinform the Ghanaian in their bid to take advantage. They hurt the health of the Ghanaian health willfully disrupting the growth of the National Health Insurance Scheme. Where was Asiedu Nketia coming from, he thought, to steal his way to the Bui Dam for the monney he could steal from the state. And how do you explain the whirlwind spate of strikes that pre-warned the inncorrigible John Dramani Mahama that his administration was openly abusing their level of intelligence refusing to pay them even their monthly salaries on time. Is it ever pardonable for a whole head of state to insidiously bribe the media to misinform the nation? What do you make of the million and one lies John Dramani kept telling Ghanaian? A head of state bribing a Ghanaian to misinform fellow Ghanaians about a prominent fellow Ghanaian! What subterfuge! Awuku needs to go back and study most carefully how well and how badly the NDC apparatus has performed in our economy.
I wish all politicians will be honest like you. You have said it all
for you and your mother and family
