President John Mahama will begin a nationwide thank you and farewell tour on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 following his defeat in the 2016 general elections.
The President will be meeting traditional and religious leaders as well as regional and constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as part of his tour. He will start off from the Upper East Region then later tour the Upper West, Northern, Brong Ahafo, Ashanti, Eastern, Volta, Central and Western Regions in that order. The President is expected to end his tour in the Greater Accra Region on Friday, December 30, 2016.
The December 7 presidential poll saw the worst defeat recorded by a sitting President in Ghana’s election history as President Mahama became the first incumbent to lose a re-election bid. The opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, won 53.85% of the total valid votes cast, against President Mahama’s 44.40% to become the fifth President of Ghana’s fourth republic.

Thanking us for what??? I can't think far!
Mahama that is the right thing to do. Fear has started griping the NPP guys. Waste of whose money?? Is Nana making money by traveling around? Hypocrisy at the highest level. Where were these Economist when Akufo Addo engaged in the thank you tours when he lost those elections? At that time it was cost saving, Abi? Hahaa. We are waiting to see you Mahama. Cheer up NDC guys it is just fair for Nana also to win. NPP did a better campaign, NDC's campaign was not jelling and that is a fact. Complacency, arrogance, out of touch with the electorates, took them for granted believing that a whole community or town would sway to them by giving gifts to some few people and loud sounds of songs. That was irresponsible!!, NPP did same in 2008 and I was shocked NDC was also doing same, buying airtime of several radio stations at the same time with the believe that the message will go down at all cost. That was hallucination. It is great Mahama conceded defeat and wish the best for Nana even though he doesn't mean it. Mahama will win 2020 eection. The lose was to make him humble when he comes to power again. He worked and did his best but this is not his time and nothing more his time will surely come 2020.
what tour? this type of tour is unheard of and mahambole should abandon it because it will be a wase of state resources. what an exravagant man!!!!!
Is it really a farewell tour or you are going round to take back all the V8 vehicles and the thousands of dollars you gave to the chiefs who were endorsing you and promising 80% of votes in their traditional areas. They have all travelled outside to avoid you.Who has got time for big losers
Please this would be a waist of resources. Kennedy Agyepong please stop him before he causes financial loss to the state.
At who's expense? Last minute face-saving attempt.
The current voter register is bloated. for over 5 million people not voting in such a crucial election? The voters were just not there. Despite the successful election, I suggest a new voters register should be considered.
you all forget that more than four million Ghanaian voted for this man. same thing was said about Nkrumah when he embarked on a nationwide infrastructural development agenda. if he had listened to the narrow-minded ancestors of the present npp, he would not have built the akosombo dam or any of the sea ports. one man one prison, one waakye one wele, one village one dam. we are waiting.
HAHAHA NPP SUPPORTERS IF ITS NOT NECESSARY FOR YOU WE UNDERSTAND, BUT WE THE FRIENDS OF MAHAMA CANT WAIT TO SEE HIM ADDRESSING US.YOU PEOPLE WENT TO THE STADIUM TO DANCE WITH NANA AND U WERE ALL HAPPY RIGHT, LET HIM TALK TO US AND THOSE OF US WHOSE HEART WERE BROKEN WILL ARISE AGAIN. JM WE ARE WAITING. AKUFFO ADDO DID THE SAME THING SOME YEARS BACK. WHO TOLD HIM BACK THEN THAT IT WAS NOT NECESSARY.
I have always maintained that Mahama was like a struggling student who was promoted to a higher class by a corrupt teacher in spite of his/her poor academic performance. The academic demands of the new class will expose him/her so much so that no amount of prayers can 'save' him. In 2012, EC rigged the elections for Mahama and NDC, because they couldn't have won it on merit. So,like the student, they have been exposed.
