Volta Regional Deputy Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbandi has revealed that his party simply failed to meet the expectations of Ghanaians.
“We have not been able to do all that Ghanaians expect; they have so many expectations for us so they believed in our government and they felt that we could do everything”, he revealed.
Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning, Mustapha Gbandi also revealed that the NDC campaign team and the party executives did not work hard enough for President Mahama during the campaign era.
“Look, the President campaigned throughout this country himself; it is not supposed to be so. If we had truly worked on the grounds, president does not need to move throughout this country to campaign himself. The man was so tired and the last minute we had our campaign in Volta Region, I cried within myself because the president was overworking”, he revealed.
He however confessed that a lot of things went wrong and thus, a self-introspection must be done.
He also believed the use of celebrity endorsement did not help President Mahama’s campaign.
“We are now going to sit down so that the things that we took for granted, the leaders and elders of the party will look into it. It is good to have elders in the party. I particularly didn’t like the idea of using celebrities to campaign for us”, he emphasized.
“We will go back to our elders, speak with them and pick wisdom from them and apply and we know that in 2020, we are back in power because we cannot take Ghanaians for granted”, he stressed.
He therefore urged all NDC supporters to maintain the level of tolerance they have given to the NPP supporters.
“We plead with them to know that we are one people and we have loved ourselves and so we shouldn’t allow mere party coloration to divide us. Ghana needs development and Nana Addo is the president today and it is our prayers that he will be able to implement what he has for Ghanaians”
“We will hold NPP responsible in the manner they have started behaving themselves after winning the elections but all other political parties will give their unflinching support to Nana Addo’s administration”, he stated.

Why cant these NDC accept the fact that you cant campaign on a single issue of infrastructure and expect to win an election. They also think personality attacks and insults win elections. They attacked any genuine polls that showed Ghanaians were going to vote massively against them. Will they now apologise to EIU that predicted their humiliation? NA NIA MA.Next time
So now you know you need your elders. Mo b3 ka nokor3.
The vigilance of the NPP party in all fronts with probing questions about the actions of the EC was very instrumental in the election victory! The NPP should as a matter of urgency implement the National ID system and compile a new voter register to prevent future rigging!
STOP tinkling and deceiving yourselves NDC, and accept the defeat because you NDC's had never won any elections here in Ghana before. You only came to power 2009 and 2012 all by rigging. You party is full of arrogance , incompetents, corruption, ***barred word*** and etc. because of your ***barred word*** tactics, you managed to add figures into some of the collation sheets and also through transmitting of the figures both 2009 and 2012 elections. so NDC'S leaders should be ashamed by now.
Whether you took things for granted or not, Ghanaians have decided. Now there is a proof we don't have short memories and it was just a matter of time. This is a lesson to all political parties.
that is what happens to you when you are incompetent and you surround yourself with ed1ots. mahama complained that the campaign was putting a lot of stress on him and u can see it written all over him. he was really stressed in this campaign. the worse part was knowing u are going to lose but for the selfish interest of some group of cr1m1nals u still have to go out and campaign. the man knew he was going to lose the elections but ndc will not let him be bcos they know the consequences for their party. the even worse part is that they took all they can take from him and did nothing. on the last day of campaign the man has to go to 3 different regions all in the name of campaign and vote buying to save themselves from a humiliating defeat. all that amounts to nothing and i were him i will run any time i hear the acronym ndc. but as cr1m1nally minded as he is u will see him back with them again. anyway i never liked the way he became president and will never like him for that. Now my man's (John Fifi Atta-Mills) spirit can rest a little.
The electoral tsunami of 7th December has thrown them into huge confusion. They are now call the opposition! They lost miserably because of liess, thieverry, arrogance, and ignorance. They were grabbing state properties such as land, cash left and right. Some of them were buying houses in London, America and Dubai. They thought they could buy the conscience of Ghanaians with cars, GH 100, GH50, GH 20, pans, gas cylenders etc. Thank God, the people saw their tricks and voted massively to kick them out of the national purse. They are nothing but irresponsible and thievees!
NDC is hiding behind their TOATL DISGRACE in the recent polls. SHAME, you thinks Ghanaians wash their face upwards. After swearing in the ACCOUNTABILITY! 'Aben bebom'
The next four years would not be easy for any party because people have seen the light that 1any party can bring development and due time these two main parties would be loosing their grip.
Oh,you now agree elders have wisdom, any NDC wanted us to believe the elderly in the Ghanaian society had outlived their usefulness, thus NANA ADDO cannot be president, all too soon NDC people are coming back to their senses.
