Information gathered by 3news.com has confirmed that the office of the president, Nana Akufo-Addo, has received a letter indicating that former president Mahama is no longer interested in staying in his cantonments bungalow.
The former president had requested that he was allowed to keep the house at the No. 3. Prestige Link, Cantonments as part of his retirement package. He has lived in the house since 2009: as a vice president and president.
The request generated a great hue and cry across the country with some groups revealing their determination to eject him with force if he continues to stay in the house. But Mr. Mahama in a letter to President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday withdrew the letter expressing his interest in that bungalow and another building on No. 6, 3rd Avenue. “It would appear that these requests threaten to mar the spirit of cooperation with which we as co-chairs of the Joint Transition Team have managed the smooth transfer of power from my administration to yours.
“…My request is therefore humbly withdrawn.”
Meanwhile, sources at the Flagstaff House, the seat of government, confirmed that the former president’s letter was received on Tuesday evening. The President, Nana Akufo-Addo is yet to take a decision on the latest letter, the source said. He also noted that the president is very much aware of the requirements under the Transaction Act, and would also respect recommendation to provide Mr. Mahama a befitting residential and office accommodation.

Mahama has surrounded himself of Stan Dogbe, Omani Boamah etc. so some of these issues will crop up. He should purge himself from this blocked headed guys who indirectly have contributed 95% of the reasons he lost the election. If has experience guys around him he would have vacated the house before the swearing in.
Corrupt John Ford Mahama can go and take back the house he gave to Akua Donkor and live in it..... He is very greedy and trying to set a very bad precedence.
@Araba, are you that young? or you've forgotten so soon. What did Mahama and his people do to Prez Kufour? Whaty is good for the goose is good for the gander
Trust me, prez akufo ad do will never be tempted to keep his official residence. Even in the unlikely event that he's not provided official residence he will proudly return to his father's house at Nima
THE NPP CAN CHOOSE NOT TO EVEN GIVE PRESIDENT MAHAMA ANY HOUSE, HE WILL LIVE BUT THEY SHOULD BE MINDFUL THAT WHEN THE BARTON TURNS, DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WANT OTHERS TO DO UNTO YOU WILL APPLY. I PITY ALL OF THEM SERIOUSLY
