Veteran Journalist, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has called on critics of President Nana Akufo-Addo's free SHS policy to redirect their energies and support the initiative.
Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Kweku Baako commended the President and his government for their commitment to implement the policy.
In his attempt to silence the naysayers of the project, Mr. Baako explained that the policy is feasible because the money to be used to roll it out has already been stated by the government.
Alluding to ruling NPP's Manifesto, Mr. Baako read the government's readiness to take up the cost of the project and provide access for all SHS students in the country.
According to him, the current administration indicated that it would use the oil revenues to facilitate and implement the free SHS policy.
He therefore wondered why the opposition NDC would cast doubts over government's ability to develop the policy.
In his view, the opposition party has refused to recognize the feasibility of the policy because when President Akufo-Addo was detailing the nation on how his government would implement the policy, the NDC "pretended they were speaking Chinese. So you didn’t hear, you didn’t see and you didn’t feel, and that’s why they lost because the people were listening. The people were sure. They were listening. They were hearing figures. They were hearing the projections. They were hearing the visions and you were not or you were pretending you were not. You didn’t hear anything and that’s why you lost.”
Mr. Baako welcomed the President's declaration that the policy would commence in September this year stating it will enhance the progress of the nation.
“You can have all the natural resources. (Kwami) if you have a brainless and uneducated population, forget it . . . The man (President Nana Akufo-Addo) is only seeking to operationalize the pledges he made in the course of the campaign. If you go to their Manifesto, they’ve captured some there,” he said.
He however believed there will be challenges as the government rolls out the programme, saying "I don’t expect a smooth sailing process. It’s never been so anywhere, especially such a far reaching policy and programme that will accompany this policy. In rolling it out (Kwami), we will have challenges" but advised the critics to their minds and energies in ensuring "we will let this thing succeed".

Is it not shameful that Nana Addo was not sure where he was going to get the money from to implement the much talked about free SHS. He has been in government for 1.5 months and proclaimed to star in September 2017 but is now looking for where to find the money. What a shame.
THE FACT THAT SOME OF YOU GOT THE SPACE TO START RADIO IN THE EARLY EIGHTIES DONT MAKE YOU SUPERIOR IN THINKING AGAINST THE REST OF US WHO SAT HOME AND LISTEN TO YOU.NANA ADDO NEVER SAID ANYWHERE IN THE NPP MANIFESTO THAT THEY WERE GOING TO USE THE HERITAGE FUND TO FUND THE FREE SHS POLICY. THE NPP CAN USE THE 70% OF OUR OIL REVENUE MONEY TO DO WHAT EVER THEY WISH ON EDUCATION BUT FOR THE HERITAGE FUND NO WAY. THERE SHOULD BE NO RUSH FOR THIS FREE SHS AT THIS STAGE OF OUR ECONOMY. IF PROPER PLANING IS NOT TAKEN THIS POLICY WILL FAIL UNDER THE FEET OF NANA AKOFU ADDO 4 YEAR TERM IN OFFICE. FOR PEOPLE LIKE MR. KWEKU BAAKO THEY ARE VAMPIRES AND WE SHOULD NOT LISTEN TO THEM ON IMPORTANT ISSUES AS THE ONE CONFRONTING US WITH OUR HERITAGE FUND.
The main reason NDC polithiefians dont want this free SHS programme is because they always feed li.es and propaganda schemes on the igno.***barred word***/less educative citizens in our society. So, if this programme is implemented and people are more enlightened and discerning, it will be very difficult/ likely impossible to feed the general populace with their fabricated l.ies.The end has come for NDC!
You're not even in Germany or Europe for that matter. If you are then you don't know the system and someone has been defrauding you of your hard earned cash. I believe however you're in Ghana and just a serial commentator like koliko and the like who used to get paid for writing thrash for ndc. And now the gravy train has moved on and you're bitter.
Baako is Nana addo's ddicky ssucker,we all know ur cocoa season is here again just u became soo filthy rich under kuffour
Bright, you may be having income-based educational sponsorship in Europe but that is not the norm, even in Europe. I thought you would know that Germany and Finland are both in Europe but the students in these countries pay for education (at every level) out of choice, not because it is typical. In the German context, one could be in a PHD program but the whole enterprise is state funded - payment of fees are reserved for certain 'Cadillac' courses. Get your facts straight.
Well Bright, let it be known to you that in the USA, HIGH SCHOOL IS FREE, period. No income to prove anything, I as a leader have send Ghanaian children to school and enroll them so its time for Ghana to experience something that is going to benefit the people. if you are in Europe be there but let Ghana advance, thanks.
All those criticizing this policy are fo*ls and ndc will never get the illiterates to vote for them any . The oil was discovered by the NPP and NPP are going to use funds from the oil they discovered to educate Ghana's future leaders if ndc do not understand they should go and drink Korle Lagoon or jump into the sea it will come on live. The NPP has no covenant with ndc but they have a covenant with the good people of Ghana and they will fulfill it. The oil money is not for the ndc,ndc never discovered any oil for the 16 years they came to rule in this democratic era but NPP took less than 8 years in their term to discover the oil what is your problem if they are going to use their own toil to help the people? Us*less party Ghana hasn't in anyway benefited from this ndc for thi*ves and are thi*ves. Ghana will succeed.
@kwarteng&Manu Before you comment on an issue you must vividly read well before you typed your comments.Manu or whatever your name is the heritage fund is not your JDM pocket money okay it's for Ghanaians so let the man whom God has blessed with much wisdom you it wisely.
Not suprized about the comments of kwaku Baako. The source of funding is the problem. The heritage fund should not be toyed with since that is a cheap way of doing things. He should let his men think of innovative ways of funding.
