Kweku Baako Jnr., Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide has asked government to review the policy which allows State vehicles to be auctioned to government officials.
Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kweku Baako expressed worry over the culture where government officials exit office with State vehicles in their possessions because it doesn't augur well for the country.
“The tendency is to play on the keyboard of people’s emotions. You throw these matters into the street, the masses win. So, perhaps, the government needs to think that in order not to suffer any collateral damage, we should take a second look at this policy.”
Addressing the issue on Kokrokoo, Mr. Baako gave credence to reports that over 200 cars were missing from the Flagstaff House, revealing that the erstwhile Mahama government auctioned 200 vehicles to its officials before ceding power to the current administration.
He stated that, per his investigations, records for these cars are not adequate which makes the sale questionable.
He further recounted that the NDC also took away about 144 cars in 2001 and another trend happened in 2009 after former President John Agyekum Kufour exited government.
Mahama's Ford...Interesting Twist
He also debunked claims that the Ford Expedition that was given as a gift to former President John Dramani Mahama was not in the fleet of cars at the Flagstaff House.
According to him, the Ford Expedition is not missing; "it's at the Flagstaff House. It is there but there’s an interesting thing. The NDC list that they issued by a certain Johnny Osei Kofi, when you go to that list; you won’t see the Ford there. It’s not on the list. I have gone for a copy of also the Administrator General’s list. I have also scanned through, the Ford is not listed. These are problematic areas in terms of record keeping. But incidentally, I have a copy of what the Logistics Officer of the office of the President handed over, interestingly I found it there."

The point is not how many cars NPP or NDC appointees took. The point is we need to do away with the provision that allows auctioning of state vehicles to appointees after every change of government. It lacks reason and it is inimical to our growth as a country
@Ajei you lack reading compression. If those two hundred cars were auctioned, why include in the list of cars in the handing over notes? The notes clearly did not indicate whether cars were auctioned or not. Per the count check, Mr Arhin found out that about 200 cars are short, he did not mention anything about anybody stealing any car. So Ajei use your head to reason small. Proper accounting is all that we all seek. However, I agree with Uncle Baako on the need to review the policy that allows government officials to buy government vehicles. They will definitely not pay for the due value of the vehicles and the succeeding government would have to buy new vehicles for them to be auctioned among the politicians and the cycle goes on. This is pure rape of the nation. Unless you are so much of a spectator than a citizen, you would definitely find nothing wrong with this. Our politicians are our curse...And those of you doing nyenye-nyenye for here about Uncle Baako not publishing cars, shame on you.
Always telling lies and swearing by the bible. Peddling untruth with confidence. He is at it again at parliament.. Try and leave God out of your lies. Otiko Afisa-Djaba's performance before the vetting committee was intentional. It was to drive home the message that the minority has no power to prevent any minister from being confirmed and therefore there is no need for anyone to bribe the committee. Ablakwa confidently in 2009 made a statement at a press conference that president Kuffour Hijacked official vehicles and motor cycles to his house...
Time will come for Ghanaians to realize that Politicians are all the same. Nobody will ever waste his or her time on them. They only think about themselves.
when are you going for position in government senior journalist
Since when has auctioned cars become missing cars? If they were auctioned, then they were not stolen and so why claim they are missing?
NPP's media damage control super master Kweku Baako is back to work. Kweku did that for the NPP superbly from 2001 to 2008 and he is back. Kweku readily knows figures of cars NDC sold to themselves but conveniently leaves out the number of cars the NPP sold to themselves. Look at how he is defending the missing cars by Arhin, kweku wants people to believe that Arhin is right because that's the number NDC people sold for themselves, meanwhile the NDC maintained that cars sold out were not part of the list. if its an NDC Govt doing this missing cars propaganda, Kweku would have dared them to publish the list. Kweku is back. Everything by NPP is good and everything NDC is bad
OPPOSITION NDC AND THEIR CROOKISH ACTS. THEY STEA1 FROM THE STATE AND WHEN THEY ARE CAUGHT THEY DENIAL AND ACCUSED GOV'T FOR WITCH HUNTING THEM NDC TH1EVE$.
So Mr. Ahin the president press sec. was right after all, that this NDC 100ting brigade did stole state cars.
Master be realistic and tell us the figures. thought NDC said they gave everything to the new goverment, so interesting
