His Excellency the vice president of Ghana, Mahamadu Bawumia has re-assured Ghanaians of the government’s willingness and commitment to deliver on the promises they made.
In a brief address to participants of the Ghana@60 health walk, the 2nd Gentleman of the Land stated that under the NPP government Ghanaians are destined for prosperity and unprecedented improvement in all spheres of life
Dr Bawumia highlighted a number of promises made during the campaign era and also some of the tax abolishment made in the 2017 ‘Asempa’ budget to buttress his point.
The highly regarded economist made mention of the abolishment of the ‘nuisance taxes’, ‘the One District, One factory’ project and the One million dollar per constituency promise made by the government as some of the moves being made to ensure that the destiny of Ghana under their watch is that of prosperity but not poverty.
"We were brought into this country by God. A land of a lot of resources and we were not brought here to be poor. Our destiny is not poverty, our destiny is prosperity. That is why in the budget we’ve seen the beginning towards the path of prosperity. Many people thought we couldn’t do free SHS but by Allah’s grace, it is happening this year.
"Many were doubtful of the restoration of the teacher and nursing training allowance but by Allah’s grace, it is happening".
"Many were of the view that it is impossible to slash the tax imposed on the importation of spare parts but it is happening. Many people thought we could not give each constitution 1million dollar but we are doing it this year. This is the path to prosperity that we want".
The health walk that happened on Saturday is one of a host of activities lined up to commemorate Ghana’s 60 years anniversary.

Dr. Bawumia, prosperity and success do not ride on the back of mediocrity and unplanned work. The huge economic plans the NPP has decided to put in place calls for unrelenting supervision and hard work. Every Ghanaian today must learn that shoddy. ***barred word*** and unplanned work that produce below the standard products are not welcome under the NPP administration this season. Time honored, precision quality work is what the new era calls for. Develop in freedom? Perhaps! The season calls for strict, stern supervision for the graded work we need doing. We exercise the freedom to work, but we must work well and most productively, we need to be reminded all the time whatever the circumstances and whatever the situation. I kick against the develop in freedom thinking. There is a mighty lot that challenges out times that call for the free will to do honest hard work, but that as well needs supervision for the standard quality products that must needs be done.
Hmmm Bawumi, are you still the authoritative Vice President of Ghana or you are just a ceremonial vice losing your powers to the resource endowed senior minister Osafo Marfo?
