The National Chairman of the Progressive People's Party [PPP] Nii Allotey Brew Hammond has inidicated their preparedness to merge with other political parties, pressure groups and individuals to form a major political force in the country.
The party’s motive to form such a movement is to hold the ruling government led by President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia accountable for their promises made to Ghanaians before the 2016 elections.
At a press conference held in Accra, Mr Brew-Hammond noted that it is by coming together that the NPP and NDC's "duopoly" can be ended.
“We want a united front of like-minded people who can come together to offer the kind of change the people can feel after elections. What has happened since the 2016 elections tells us that Ghanaians stand the real chance of being disappointed once again, so we do not want to wait until election time to start pulling that like-minded forces to them.”
“We want change that would raise the standard of living for the average Ghanaian; we do not want fancy ideas or promises, we don’t care for the repeating of campaign slogans. We believe that only an alternative moment will make this happen, so once again after careful consideration the party wishes to invite like-minded forces to come together to forge a united front...“PPP believes it is only by bringing forces together that the dominance of NPP and NDC duopoly can be broken,” he added.
An alternative third force, is necessary because, the PPP believes results of the previous elections showed Ghanaians voted for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) not because of their policies, but because there is no third political force.
The PPP's National Chairman also expressed disquiet over some changes announced by the current government, especially regarding the introduction of the free senior high school initiative; few months after winning the elections.
"They promised to start the free education in September this year only to come and tell us the scheme is for only first year students. Also we want to know what has happened to our one district, one factory promise," he said.

BREW-HAMMOND, TALK SENSE AND BE REALISTIC LIKE AN MFANTSIPIM OLDBOY. DONT INDULGE IN CHEAP POLITICAL BACK-BITING AND VERBAL TOMFOOLERY!!! I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN YOU THAT I AM GOING TO FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL TO EXPOSE YOUR VISSIONLESS AND ***barred word*** VERBAL DIAHRRHOEA!!!
PPP will be a better opposition than the NDC
this is childish talk how do you expect less than three months government to fix an economy that has been destroyed in 8 years, if papa kwesi and his ppp want to be serious they shouldn't be doing such childish politics we expect you to give us alternative to what the current government has proposed but not to do the NDC style of dirty politics. i strongly believe you can be a credible political alternative to the NPP than this evil NDC
Well you rather ging to loose the remaining members left in your party rather bcos Nana Addo and his team are visionaries that will surely take Ghana to the level it deserves NPP is FOCUS in making their impact and to delope this country. The opposition will soon be irrelevant and will join the same chorus of the Nehemiah of our time Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo. LONG LIVE NANA ADDO-BAWUMIA, LONG LIVE NPP AND SUPPORTERS, LONG LIVE GHANA
You can Join forces with Akua Donkor the female star of Africa. She seems to have a brighter future in politics than Paa Kwesi
Kwame Nti,nothing will convince Ghanaians yo take ndc as an alternative government Tweeeaaa ndc for where? When anyone makes anti Ghana statement ndc takes it as a joy and become happy but let me tell you ndc and people who think like them will never succeed. This PPP chairman doesn't know what he is talking about he just joined that party for nokofio from Papa Kwesi Nduom. Why didn't they call for a union in opposition but now?after ndc have made your party unpopular by disqualifying your candidate and party but you want to join them in opposition for their dirty job who cares? Ndc will never come back to power whatever be the case the evil of the NPP is the good of the ndc so Ghanaians prefer the evil of the NPP of freedom to the good of the ndc of hardship, insults and arrogance couple with incompetence and thi*ving. Tweeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaa ! Ndc never again.
Papa Kwesi Nduom is a serious and respectable politician.I believe he is also an achiever. If however he allows old f001s like this one to speak on behalf of his party then he is doomed to political oblivion. How is it possible to fulfil promises like one district ,one factory in 8 weeks? The man does not even have the full complement of his cabinet yet. Even Houdini would have found this feat most daunting.Papa Kwesi I advise you to kick out all members of your party who have taken money from the NDC and are spewing gibberish on their behalf.
NANA AND VICE HAVE NO EXCUSE TO DISAPPOINT GHANAIANS...THEY WILL SURELY FULFILL ALL PROMISES IN 4 YEARS...LET US PRAY FOR THEM.
Hahahahaah..... Why are you guys at the man's throat? Ebuboor ba!!! Hahahahaha.... Now Nana is not a magician? The Economic prophet nmpo di3 he is now deaf & dumb. Petrol is up with drivers threatening.... Confusion galore!!! Mahama amanbuo bor ni...... Woe di3 ebon huunn!!!
Noise, noise and noise!!! It is unfortunate that almost all the Nkrumah-based political parties talk like children. Did Nana ever say he was a magician? What Ghana needs is a tangible, mature and visionary opposition. Is this the type of leadership Nkrumah bequeathed to mother Ghana? No wonder socialism had to die for the world to breath the air of freedom. You talk like your socialist international 'vice president' Asiedu Nketia. No wonder, empty barrels, they say, make the most noise.
