Vice Chairperson of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Anita Desoso has said the various campaign groups that were formed just before the 2016 general election for ex President John Mahama, contributed to the NDC’s defeat in last year’s polls.
According to her, while the party structures couldn’t perform to expectation as they lacked resources, the various campaign groups rather secured funding but failed to work to deliver victory for the party.
Few months to the December 7, 2017 general elections, there was a sudden proliferation of various campaign groups purporting to canvass for votes for ex President John Mahama who was seeking a second term.
Groups such as Zongo for Mahama, Youth for Mahama, Celebrities for Mahama and a host of others were formed with some political watchers arguing that these groups were largely formed to make money by their leaders rather than doing any serious campaign work.
The NDC lost the elections which came to the party as a real shock as it was confident of winnning, due to the massive infrastructure development that was witnessed across the country under ex President Mahama who was then the Flagbearer of the party.
Speaking to Kasapa News, Anita Desoso stated that the time has come for party structures to be respected and given the necessary support adding that never again will such campaign groups be allowed to operate on their own during elections.
“These campaign groups which emerged in the runup to the December 7, 2016 elections contributed to our lose in that election. After these groups were formed, the structures that are known to the party rather suffered as they were denied resources. They couldn’t peform to expectation because they lacked the needed resources. The groups were rather benefitting as they went for funds from certain quarters, and while they were happy, the grassroots were complaining. Some of these groups could go to the Volta Region purporting to do campaigning but went there to speak english instead of the ewe language, how can you do such a campaign?”
She added: “I’ve vowed to make sure that the NDC ammends its constitution, whichever group it is should start from the structures…start from the branch level. You don’t sit down for someone to toil and just before an election you come out to form a group. I campaign against such groups until this ammendment is made in the NDC constitution. We’ve had enough of people wanting to do things their own way without following the party structures.“

This woman is not smart at all...Anita Desoso what an ***barred word*** name. Now that NDC has lost she will have to go back to Jersey to continue her dirty street business allele. With people like her in NDC I don't see NDC coming into power again. At one point she was even blaming evil spirit for the economy downturn. Alele like Anita Desoso
Sometimes when I hear some npp sympathizers say NDC lost the election because of arrogance, mismanagement and so forth then it baffles me. My goodness, Nana Addo who is now president today he lost twice including the supreme case making it a total of three losses. what was his fault? was it incompetence as you guys claimed? was it your so called mismanagement? or was it your blindly tagging officials of NDC as arrogance? Inface, these npp supporters paaa aaah you guys are just like comedians when it comes to politics.
Yes it's NDCs loss. But there's nothing like 'a grammar' either. The sentence should read: what grammar!
What massive infrastructure do these corrupt people keep talking about? With no oil money, Kufour did more than you people in infrastructure. You got oil money and borrowed more than any government in our history, in fact more than all governments since independence put together. Yet you still left behind a Ghc 7 billion unpaid bill for yet-to-be identified projects for the NPP to pay. Gog got rid of you people for Ghanaians and he will keep you in opposition for a very loooooooonng time.
Peace fm must stop disgracing Ghanaians with this type of English language. Are you people that illiterate? It should read; Ndc's loss. Kasapa must send their journalists back to school.
Peacefmonline.....please the election was held in december 2016 not december 2017...... Try and proof read before posting news...who is your chief editor. Is the person on maternity leave or sick leave?
Did Desoso write this headline herself? NDC's 'lose'? Chaiiii?!No wonder folks are calling for Parliament to switch to debating in Twi
When it is coming it is doing.
I thought you people said Nana Addo was a dictator but Mahama was a better leader. A leader who does not know which advice to take and which to reject is not worth any salt. Did members of those groups steal the money or your flag bearer gave it to them? Who did Mahama discuss the idea of groups with. Because the money used was not for the party but for the people of Ghana and the NDC just wanted to waste it they did not think of the worth of projects suggested before funding them. The main, if not only person you people can blame is Mahama. The man had the Presidency on a silver platta. He, like Goodluck never sweated for the presidency. The whole problem is that your RIGGING plan was aborted. Mahama never won the 2012 election. He only succeeded in foolling Ghanaians at the polls and at the Supreme Court. We are just lucky he could fooll us the second time. Once beaten, twice shy. Ma'am Desosoo the groups did nothing wrong. They only played the NDC game wasting the nation's resources, and this time played it better than you the old guards.
go bk to the drawing and stop the blame game.
