The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a 7-day ultimatum to President Nana Akufo-Addo to clamp down on the Delta Force.
The party has charged the President to bring the members of the Delta Force, a pro-NPP vigilante group, to order or face a massive political revolt; albeit a peaceful one.
According to a statement signed by the party's General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the 7 days given to the President is to ensure that he (Nana Addo) effects the arrest of the members of the vigilante group for wreaking chaos at the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Circuit Court.
"The lack of action on the part of President Akufo Addo and the NPP Government to stem the rise of these deluge of lawlessness in Ghana has made it very difficult for the NDC not to conclude that there is an organized and state sponsored agenda to run the country by private party militia groups in clear violation of our Constitution which prohibits private militias. To put it pointedly; President Akufo-Addo and the NPP, are consciously sponsoring 'state terrorism'," the party stressed.
The party feared silence by the President over the Delta Force attacks could breed "terrorist groups" in the country, hence cautioning the Nana Addo administration to put strict measures in place to check the menace.
The NDC also wants the President to take swift action to ensure the continuity of the trial of the accused Delta Force members who were set free by the group on Thursday, April 6, 2017.
"Ghana is on a slippery path towards enabling the activities of terrorist groups to fester and gain roots and it must not be countenanced. The signals Ghana is currently witnessing are very similar to what happened in countries that have become theatres of political intolerance, vigilante justice and ultimately violent terrorism and civil conflicts...The NDC is by this statement giving the President a 7day ultimatum for these actions to be taken."
The NDC threatened to embark on a series of mass actions against the government should the President fail to heed their demands.
"If these actions are not taken by the end of the 7 days, we shall embark on a series of mass actions via all peaceful and lawful means to press home our demands further to ensure that this "Black Thursday" never occurs again in the annals of Ghana’s history", the statement further read.

But Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, don't forget the criminal aspect of the montie 3's case. Anytime your speech borders on security, remember to remind the President to investigate that case. It will do you a great deal of good! Thank you.
