The National Democratic Congress legislator for the Wa Central Constituency, Rashid Pelpuo has described as mysterious results of the 2016 polls.
According to him, the NDC did everything possible to fulfill the needs in the country yet the people of Ghana kicked them out from power.
He made the comment on Citi FM’s News analysis programme The Big Issue, on Saturday in defence of former President John Mahama’s recent remark on the cause of the NDC’s defeat.
Mr. Mahama while speaking at the World Economic Forum in Durban, South Africa on Thursday, noted that he had an “incumbency disadvantage” hence his abysmal performance in the poll.
He also accused Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of promising Ghanaians “heaven.”
“I knew what the economy could give the people and I told the people the truth that we need more hard work to be able to get out of where we are; my opponent promised heaven and you have the constraints of not being able to promise all the rosy things he was doing,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pelpuo noted that “this is one of the elections that have been very difficult and mysterious to understand.”
“You have a government that is responsive to the needs of the people, you have a government that built schools, they [Ghana] wanted roads, we built roads, they wanted hospital, we built hospitals, they wanted water, we supplied water, we did everything that was possible to ensure that the people of Ghana know that this is a government that is responsive and responding to their basic need and creating conditions for them to be able to develop themselves individually and creatively.”
“In the end the same people voted against us as if we didn’t do anything at all. We built and international airport harbours. It has never happened in the history of this country for a single government to even build about 50 secondary schools at a go within a space of four years… After doing all these things we thought we had touched the mind, the thinking and we are striking a chord with Ghanaians. In the end we got the worst votes that had ever been recorded since 1992,” he lamented.
Mahama loss by about a million votes to Akufo-Addo in the polls.
The NDC also lost hold of a number of Parliamentary seats to the New Patriotic Party.

What is this Piopio man talking about. Let me take him on by his own statements. Roads - Is it the Ford Kanazoe road he is talking about? where did they get with the much touted Eastern Corridor Road? Hospitals - go to the Sefwi area and you will see what NDC touted about. Health Centres and CHPS compounds are like hen coops. Nothing to write hoe about. If you build one Ridge hospital at an over bloated cost, does that mean you have built HOSPITALS? Water - NDC touted it like water was flowing all over Ghana. Meanwhile it was under their watch that galamsey thrived for which water bodies got poluted resulting in the closure of pumping/treatment stations accros the country. Schools - if you promise two hundred schools for which only 47 were commissioned and you deceive the people that they are at various stages of complletion when some are grazing fields for cattle, do you expect people to vote for your lies? No wonder you were in a comfortable lead when you were losing the elections. Of course it is mysterious for Piopio to be in a comfortable lead and still lose mysteriously. Basic Needs - when people were losing their businesses due to DUMSOR, Piopio felt he was providing basic needs with the loss of jobs and so Ghanaians should continue to vote for him and his ilk. So Mr. Rashid Piopio... the mystery of your loss is no mystery, I have outlined them for you unless you still believe you are in a comforatble lead.I rest my case.
IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND GO TO NOGOKPO OR KWAKU BONSAM FOR INTERPRETATION FOR WHAT YOU CALL IS MYSTERIOUS. ndc YOU NO SEE NOTHING YET.
Corruption, arrogance,***barred word***,lies, deceits and high cost of living, incompetence were some of the cause. In any case what message did you people sell to the voters? JM Toaso,no ababaseee, hyweeeeeeeeeeee,Nana Addo is short,he is divisive,he can never be president etc etc and you expect us to buy this? never in this country again for ndc
stop crying please
OH !!! Mr Pelpuo !!! building shooddy projects and over priced buildings does not not qualify NDC to be in government AGAIN !!!!!.
Pelpuo, go and read 1 Corinthians 1:17 and you'd understand.
Who told u infrastructure wins elections? U are one of the worse Ministers people like u should not have been a minister Woyome money, montie3, corruption, Dumsor for four years who in his right senses will vote for u when he has lost his job? Don't forget u didn't win the 2012 elections oh
I still don't understand why these NDC people could not see that they will loose the elections even though it was boldly written on the wall. Whiles NPP were campaigning with what they want to do, you guys including your candidate were seriously demonising Akkufo Addo and also talking about unprecedented infrastructure. Which government did not build infrastructure? If infrastructure wins elections, I don't think NDC would have ever come power
Hey, Mr MP kindly read the above. If you are not ready, they are Corrupt1on, Th1evry,Arrogance,Insulting,absence of good political message and Inflation of contract figures. Ghanaians are quiet because they are waiting for the independent prosecutor to jail you people so never think that the battle has ended no!!!!
