“Some of these workers have wives, children and so on; if these workers in the course of their work have to serve their bosses with tea biscuits and so on and they partake in it, they are not criminals, they are not thieves and they cannot be responsible for the current state of the economy…” says the managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr.
Kwesi Pratt was reacting to President Akufo Addo’s assertion that workers need to change their attitude if “we are going to make the changes we all want”
President Akufo Addo during May Day celebration this year said “we have no respect for the hours set aside for work… we pray, we eat, we visit during working hours. We spend hours chatting on the telephone when customers are waiting to be served, thereby increasing our labour costs. We take a week off for every funeral. And then we wonder why we are not competitive. There is the petty stealing of paper, envelopes, tea, milk and other equipment. There is the reckless use of office vehicles. Employees show no inclination to protecting the things that are in the offices and factories and extreme reluctance to stand up for what we know to be right in our workplaces in general,”
Contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji, Kwesi Pratt said it is ‘unfair’ for workers to be described as thieves or corrupt when they are only finding ‘ways to survive’
“I do not see how you can call ordinary workers who find ingenious ways of extracting a little from those they do business with; I do not see how we can call these workers corrupt. These are workers who have been reduced to begger status and have to find ways of survival…they are only begging for alms to survive and to blame them for their condition or to say that their condition is responsible for the decay in society, I think it is most unfair” he added.

EGYA PRATT, YOU ARE RIGHT. YOU WANT TO GO TO HEAVEN BUT YOU DO NOT WANT TO DIE:YOU WANT TO PROGRESS AND YET STILL YOU DO NOT WANT TO LEARN WHAT TO DO TO PROGRESS.SCHOOLS ARE LEVYING MOTIVATION FEE GH10, ASSEMBLY HALL FEE GH50 AND OTHERS WHICH PUT BURDEN ON PARENTS AND WE SEE NOTHING WRONG BECAUSE THEY MUST SURVIVE.WHEN YOU SEE THE POLICE OFFICER BEING PLEADED WITH FOR THE VERY INSURANCE TO SAFEGUARD YOUR LIFE AND YOU GIVE HIM OR HER GH5 FOR CAUTIONING YOU ,THAT IS CORRUPTION.ONE PARTICULAR GROUP CAN NOT CHANGE TO REFLECT TOTAL CHANGE SO WE MUST ALL START CHANGING AND THAT IS IT.EVERYBODY SHOULD POLICE THE SYSTEM AND CAUSE A CHANGE FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, PLEASE.
Am definitely not agree with you!! The president was right in his speech !why here in Germany can never practice theses kinds of petty stealings ,u would be handed over to the police ,even if those practicings are beind done by entire Ghanaians institutions then I will say that these behaviors are completely wrong! Cos at the end of the u would be paid ! So it is the for us all as Ghanaians put a stop to that.if 18millions Ghanaians workers everyday each person takes salt ,sugar , governments properties at home just that his or her family will survive, how much in gh codes will cost the government annually? Let's us all be industrious not disastrous, , To my point of visions if we Ghanaians want to be productive then we must honest to ourselves because it's a shameful to steal from ur own country 'n lets all be supportive !God Bless our homeland Ghana and make our nations great and strong bod to defend forever exc, Jäh bless!
What is Kwasi Pratt's relevance in Ghana's political history. Why should he be consulted on political issues. His opinions are not needed.
Does Kwesi Pratt have to comment on everything? This is shameful. Seems he is the only one who endorses pilfering in work places. No wonder his "Insight" business isn't growing.
What do you expect frOM kWESI Prate. He hates anything NPP.
Not surprising. Prattt has always been out of touch with realty. He is actually a spent horse in both our political, social and economic trajectory. Akkofo Addo really need to be serious with his changes. Why making budget for biscuits, milk, sugar, tea and all these breakfast goodies. Waste of public money that could have been used to build schools in our villages.Let them buy their own coffee, biscuits and tea. You are paid !!! Not even the great country like the US and rich states in the US do this wasteful thing. Waste of public money on non performing government officials and senior civil servants. What kid of thinking is this !!!
What would Pratt have said if this was said about ministers and appointees of this Government. Pratt is never consistent and his inclination to comment on everything is his undoing. At a certain age one need not talk too much. Proverbs 10:19 says, When words are many sin is not absent.
Akwasi Pratt is the most F000000ish and Th1ef man in ghana
Please Peace FM,kindly post sensible thing's from this man than this ***barred word*** he's been spilling on that radio station. If you guys are not careful you become like him because he's lost his value long time.
I'm still surprise people like Kwesi Pratt still continue to share opinion on issues like this and make fundamental errors in their submission. For me people like Kwesi Pratt have no credibility to talk on these issues after all, we all know his news paper and himself were on the payroll of the previous government.I wonder if Nana addo ever considers His opinion for anything.
