Audio Attachment: Listen to Allotey Jacobs |
NDC Central Regional Chairman, Allotey Jacobs has cautioned President Nana Akufo-Addo to exercise discretion on the petition filed against the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Charlotte Osei.
Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo', Allotey Jacobs believed there may be some forces from the NPP government pushing for the removal of the EC Chairperson.
To him, if the President doesn't cautiously scrutinize the petition and therefore goes ahead to perhaps set the EC Boss and her Deputies aside as widely supported by some critics; his decision may degenerate into chaos.
According to Allotey Jacobs, "nobody is perfect on this earth. No human being is perfect. No institution is perfect. No law is perfect” and so he would call for investigations into the issue rather than removing the Commissioners from office because of the feud existing among them.
Allotey Jacobs further noted that should the President take such a decision, he may open himself up for the opposition NDC to read meanings into it and lead people to protest on the streets.
He feared the street demonstrations may brew violence in the country.
He therefore advised President Akufo-Addo saying "he should be cautious of the petition filed to him because it’s a bomb that has been placed on his doorstep. It’s a bomb that when exploded, you’ll see thousands of dead bodies on the street. You take it for a joke. You see, when you’re in power, you’re so incensed that there’s nothing and so I won’t listen to advice.”

The country broke or no broke we all dey inside. NDC put petrol and gasoline and kerosine and all NDC bodies into the mixture and light it. You think you are the only mad people in Ghana. Watch out very very well.***barred word*** ***barred word*** Beware you would not be accepted in any western country. The world will chase all the leaders of NDC. Mark my WORD WORD WORD.All of you war drummers, I have heard if you survive the melee will be tried as war crimes.Just watch out all these NDC war drummers.
I think NDC have their own laws and constitution so they want the president to use their own constitution and not that of Ghana. All the NDC's are talking same and it shows their incompetency is increasing. thank God the competent president is too wise to listen to someone like Allotey. Go back and advise Mahama and ur NDC gurus
I personally think Ndc has hidden agenda,I guess the only way they can come back to power is through Charlotte Osei because I don't know why they all singing the same song and don't want the constitution to work.Thank God we have a president who believes in the rule of law and is can see her has started using the laws of the land.
Allottey, So the President should ignore the constitution? If you have good advice, why didn't you advise Mahama on Monte three issue? Even that case involved innocent and hardworking Chief Justice. This EC case has criminal aspects and you NDC guys say people will hit the streets. Are you serious? Can you think far? Haha, police will deal with that with horse whips if that time comes. Good luck, Allottey Jacobs
MR FISHERMAN NOW I KNOW YOU ARE A REAL FISHERMAN. DO YOU KNOW THE LAWS OF THE LAND? ASK NDC LAWYERS AND THEY WILL TELL YOU NANA ADDO HAS NO HAND IN THIS CASE. THE CJ AND THOSE SHE WILL APPOINT ARE GOING TO INVESTIGATE THE CASE AND BRING OUT THEIR FINDINGS. WHAT THEY WILL SENT TO THE PRESIDENT AND THEIR RECOMENDATIONS IS WHAT OUR ABLE AND INTERLIGENT PRESIDENT WILL DO. THE LAWS OF GHANA WILL TAKE ITS COURSE ON THIS EC MATTER SO MR JACOBS TAKE HEART GHANA WILL NOT BURN. IF GHANA DID NOT BURN DURING THE DAYS OF THE EX PRESIDENTWHO WAS SAID TO BE INCOMPETENT GHANA WILL NOT BURN DURING NANAS TIME.
Go on and demonstrate. Who cares???
APPOINTMENT OF CHARLLOTE OSEI AS EC BOSS IS ONE OF THE REASONS MAHAMA LOST THE ELECTION. MANY OF HER ACTIONS BEFORE THE ELECTION REVEALED TO GHANAIANS THAT SHE WAS INCOMPETENT AND THEREFORE THE ONE WHO APPOINTED HER WAS NOT DISCERNING ENOUGH WHAT IS GOOD FOR GHANA. AKKUFFO ADDO HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO MAINTAIN HER. "YAFUN BONE NIMM S3 MASA" AND "NYAME A OMP3 BONE" CHARLOTTE COULD NOT CONTAIN THE SITUATION AND HAS BETRAYED ALL HER WEAKNESS IN PUBLIC. NOW EC HERSELF HAS SHOT HERSLF IN THE FOOT. SHE HAS DISMISSED HERSELF AND HER DEPUTIES IN THE PUBLIC COURT. LET US WAIT AND SEE IF ANY CAN SAVE HIMSELF OR HERSELF AT THE INVESTIGATION TO BE SET UP BY CJ.
ha ha haa. Are you telling us you want Nana's well being? The constitution has AUTHORISED the president to give the PETITION to the CJ. What has Nana got to do with this? Whether you like it or not, Charlotte Osei will face he just rewards!!!!
If it was just an issue of poor human relations on the part of Mrs Osei and her deputies, it would not have been an issue as behind the scenes mediation would have done the magic. But unfortunately, there is an aspect of CRIMINALITY that require thorough investigations and therefore there is no alternative than to refer the matter to the Chief Justice as stipulated by Article 146. There is nothing NDC can do when the President is going by the dictates of the constitution. There is more serious rot at the Electoral Commission. Asem wo ho3 paa.
Mr Jacobs, what caution are you talking about? The President has a constitution to guide him in performing his duty. Legally, there is a clear way of handling such cases. The President has a team of legal brains to consult so hold your breath about your caution. On the other hand, if you aim at intimidating him, then you have backfired. Who fears NDC demonstration or cares about it? After all Ghanaians know they always act before reasoning, if at all they do reason. Nana will prevail
