Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s response to former President John Mahama in connection with the $2.5 million national digital addressing system which the latter described as “419”, was excessive.
In his response, Dr Bawumia described Mr Mahama as “clueless” and “ignorant”, adding that the former president would have done himself a great favour if he had read more about the project before coming out to speak about it.
Dr Bawumia also hinted that the government would soon start prosecuting officials of the Mahama administration for corruption.
But in a Facebook post on Tuesday, 7 November, Prof Gyampo said: “Please leave that for the party communicators, apparatchiks and commentators. Those who have indulged themselves in corrupt acts must be dealt with legally in a manner that does not create fear and suspicion of witch-hunting.
“Your threats to deal with them legally after sounding ballistic in your angered response to that criticism, would create an impression in some minds that people are going to be punished for critiquing your government.
“Please remember that President Kufuor once responded harshly to President Rawlings but later apologised to Ghanaians.
“Again, please remember your own refrain was always ‘incompetence, incompetent and incompetence’. The response to this wasn't the best but certainly, not as harsh as yours. Kindly note that the position of a Veep is a heat-beat away from that of the President. It requires sobriety, temperament and big heart to stomach even annihilating criticisms.
“If you have to respond, please do so via the commentators and apparatchiks. A master recipient of the sovereign fiduciary trust of the people must remain focus and not stop to throw stones at every ‘political animal’ that barks,” Prof Gyampo said.

It's nauseating listening to this Gyampo guy;who is he at all...did he first advised "***barred word*** promiscuous corrupt and incompetent"drosmani atopahene Mahama on his insulting nature?Dr.Bawumiah did well in replying in this manner.Mahama must learn how to talk, and respect. He's indeed clueless and ***barred word***!
Prof. Gyampo should direct his comments at former prez Mahama. At least he should comport himself as a stateman and refrain from his style of provocation. He has been at it as an MP,as a vice prez, as a prez and now as a former prez. He still engages in this petty insulting behaviour. He must grow up. These are issues Prof Gyampo needs to pick up with his idol former prez Mahama and stop pointing figires at the current vice prez Dr Bawumiah. Let us stop being hypocites.
Sorry Prof Gyampo, this is not any "political ***barred word***". When an ex-president makes such ludicrously absurd comments, on a subject he obviously knows very little about and didn't bother to educate himself first, he needed to be put right. I'm glad that the vice-president took him on.
DR. BAWUMIA MUST LEARN TO SPEAK WITH RESPECT. HE HAS TO LEARN DIPLOMACY FOR HAVEN'S SAKE. BAWUMIA BEHAVES AS IF HE IS STILL ON THE CAMPAIGN PLATFORM. GROW UP MR. VICE PRESIDENT.
PROF PLEASE BE OBJECTIVE AND CALL A SPADE A SPADE AND DONT COMPARE THE INCOMPARABLE ISSUES. IF YOU ARE ACCUSE OF FRAUD AND A ***barred word*** HOW WILL YOU REACT? SEE HOW YOU REACTED WHEN NPP SUPPORTERS HARASHED YOU. PLEEASE GIVE US A BREAK.
The Ex-President Mahama and his band of hooligans are very very 1gn0rant of how Software's/Apps and for that matter technology works! I heard John Mahama saying *“How can you launch a Google GPS system that is freely available on our mobile phone and say it is a national addressing system..."* You see where the IGNORANCE IS..?? 1. Google does NOT own a (Global Positioning System) "GPS System". 2. Google owns an Application called Google Maps or Google Earth; together with satellites in space which allows the applications Google run and for that matter any other third party Device or Application capture GPS Coordinates (Longitudes, Latitudes and Accuracy/Thresholds etc.) 3. NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) and other Companies and Countries also have their own Satellites in space, therefore..Someone could develop and Application and depend on NASA Satellites or Google Satellites, and even in some instances you have no idea the satellite which is helping you capture the COORDINATES. TO THE POINT: 1. The Asaase GPS application and Google Maps and a lot more are examples of different applications used to capture GPS data, and anyone can develop an app to capture GPS Information without lunching Satellites into space. 2. The question of COST comes in when someone (a Software Engineer) is contracted to build an application. The engineer can build his application based on an existing FREE Model under the Free License or Open Source Policy but that does NOT mean he will have to give it out for Free. WHAT DO I MEAN? (CONCLUSION) 1. Google Maps is FREE on our phones does NOT mean other Applications that uses Google COORDINATES or NASA COORDINATES are not to be sold at a PRICE!! 2. There are other 1 million GPS applications out there that are FREE but the question is: Will it fit into our purpose or objective..?? No software is straight forward, sometimes it needs to be tweaked to fit into requirements and that comes at a price, even if the Software is available for FREE as an Open Source Software. JOHN MAHAMA and HIS COHORTS Are wrong Again!
I agree with you! John Ford Mahama should NOT behave like a serial caller. He should talk and behave like a statesman.
As much as no one wants our leaders to insult each other but show leadership by example, the professor should also remind ex-president John Mahama that he is a statesman so he should learn to behave as such, if not he will always get this type of respones from others. He cannot be allow to insult and get away with it. He will be insulted back. He who lives in a glass house, should not throw stones at others.
Who is Gyampo, Professor my foot. what kind of lecture is he giving to his student, He should leave the class room and join the NDC race I think it will help him. VEEP more fire. Egya eshiwo, Fire burn you
Mahama's one punch is confusing the elephant...they are catching cold Lol. Bawumia 419 Bawumia 419 GPS software 419. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. The 'pigs' will soon start the insult Lol
