“I thought I was dead already, I heard others mentioning God and Allah and praying for forgiveness” - The Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri Boahen recalled.
Obiri Boahen was sharing his experience after a Starbow aircraft skidded off the tarmac last Saturday, injuring at least four persons.
The Kumasi bound aircraft, ATR72-500 with registration 9G-SBF, skidded off the tarmac during its take-off run.
A statement from the airline said even though "all 65 passengers and five crew members disembarked, as normal," five passengers on board flight S9 104, sustained injuries; albeit minor.
The domestic airline has since "suspended its operations".
The NPP Guru who was on board the plane in an interview on Neat FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ lauded the pilot on board for his experience to save many lives despite reports that the pilot defied poor weather warnings to take off.
Meanwhile, some passengers have threatened to take legal action against the airline for failing to foot their medical bills.
According to them, the airline after the incident left them to their fate and they had to pay for their own medical bills after being attended to at the Airport clinic.

No one is going to board an npp state airline, so the government should discard the Ghana airline idea. It will collapse in no time. We will use our delta and British airlines. We don't need any coffin of Ghana planes.
Using our tax payers money to board planes by heart. God is warning you people. Before npp came to power I saw you always driving, but now you have free money to misuse. Even Good looking KABA is gone, so repent from your pompous and abusive behavior. A face like this is around while kaba is gone.
I agree with you 100% my brother, It is God who really saved them, and blessed be HIS name.
FUNNY ARE THOSE WHO THINK GHANA IS A DEVELOPED COUNTRY AND WILL BE TRAVELLING ON INTERNAL FLIGHTS.HMMMM.DO WE HAVE THE MEANS TO SERVICE THESE JETS? INFACT GHANA MY MOTHERLAND IS A LAUGHABLE COUNTRY.I HEAD THEY ARE PLANNING ON ACQUIRING A NATIONAL AIRLINE, INSTEAD OF THEM TO LET THESE MUZUNGUS OPERATE A SERVICE FOR US AND GET A CUT,THEY THINK THEY CAN MAINTAINE AN AIRLINE.STOP YOUR ARROGANCE AND GET THESE WHITES TO OPERATE OUR ROUTES.IF THESE WHITES ARE OPERATING THIS STARBOW THOSE INJURED WOULD NOT HAVE TO FOOT THEIR OWN BILLS AND WHEN THESE WHITES OPERATE THESE AIR LINES, SAFETY AND PROFITABILITY IS THEIR PRIME OBJECTIVE.WHAT HAPPENNED TO GHANA AIRWAYS?
This incident is about the third time now. Why? Do we wait till we lose lives before Govt intervenes?
The grace of God save you and all passengers live and not the experience of the pilot. Bear in mind there are more experienced pilots and drivers around but yet accidents do happen. Credit to Baba God
