The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma Central, Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey has revealed that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has organised 318 press conferences in 2017 under review.
According to him the press conferences ranged from calling for investigations into reported acts of corruption to demanding the resignation of certain ministers or other government appointees.
He added that the numerous pressers by the NDC just one year in opposition is gradually turning the party into one will be noted for press conferences.
His comment comes in the wake of the minorities decision to call for a parliamentary probe into the $ 100,000 scandal that has hit the Trades ministry.
It has earlier emerged that the Trade ministry provided account details to collect dollar-denominated cheques from expatriates interested in sponsoring a dinner to award expatriates.
The ministry collected the money on behalf of the event organiser, Millennium Excellence Foundation, in order to assure the sponsors that the event was credible.
A leaked document revealed that the expatriates were charged to pay an amount of $ 100,000 before they could sit close the president at the Ghana Expatriate Business Awards (GEBA).
This development prompted the president to query Trades Minister.
President Akufo Addo has since cleared Mr: Alan Kyeremanteng of any wrongdoing after he responded to the query.
However the minority is insisting on a bipartisan probe into the scandal.
This call, the Ablekuma Central MP said is not in order. He further accused the NDC of gradually becoming a ‘press conference party’ as they are noted for hosting the media just to be heard.
“For me I think that the minority wants to be heard and if they go ahead to do a press conference, that will be 319 press conferences since they went into opposition. In fact even if you are a Member of Parliament on the side of the majority and you are seen talking to someone and they see you, they will organise a press conference’’ he told Adom News.
Ebenezer Nii Narh Nartey said he will not be surprised to see the minority organizing a press conference on top of their petition to the speaker.

What did the NDC do prior to the 2008 elections? Were you in Ghana then? What role did the babies with sharp teeth's play in all that. Because your party was founded on propaganda and lies which have infested the mind and body of every NDC supporter to the core, you think all Ghanaians think alike. Give us a break. 2018 is patiently waiting for Ghanaians to know who are the real corrupt politicians in Ghana.
chill guys its our (ndc) strategy to waste our time and ur time as well. if u have something better to do u won't pay attention to our press conferences. we are there to entertain the lonely minds. get urself busy and ignore us bcos we have nothing for serious ple. nana is doing some marvelous work and we want to distract him and his govt. thank you. signed..concerned ndc loyalist.
Sooner than later, the good people of Ghana will know the follies of the NDC Party.
All those who have commented on this news item so far are just hypocrites. Your position reflect hypocrisy of the highest level. Where were they when, prior to the 2016 elections, NPP was holding one press conference after the other, just to lie to Ghanaians? At a point in time, most of us even lost count of the number of press conferences they have had.
There are 52 weeks in a year, and so there are 52 weekends in a year. Each weekend has 2 days. This works out to 104 days of weekends. There are also 365 days in a year. Since Press Conferences are held on weekdays, this implies there are 269 weekdays in a year. Divide 318 Press Conferences by 269 days and you have 1.218 This even include public holidays. Of course Press Conferences are not held on Public holidays. CHARLOTTE OSEI WHO IS NDC' LAST HOPE OF WINNING ELECTIONS IS FACING IMPEACHMENT 'TRIAL'. Secondly, with the impressive performance of NPP, NDC is left with only propagandist Press Conferences option.
318 Press conferences and still counting. Is that one of the recommendations of the Kwesi Botwe Committee?
Hahahahaaha hahahahahaha! Press conference party? Hahahahahahaha! This is what happens when fo*ls take over your party disgrace, humiliation, shame and laughing stock they make your party. JJ gyi wo party,JJ gyi wo party na abonsamfuo ne akronfuo s3 no. I feel pity for those who voted for these people who are showing real ign*rance of their electorates to Ghana and the whole world they making their voters laughing stock in Ghana. When we ask you to vote wisely it's because so you don't send people like these idi*ts to represent you to make laws which they even dont understand but follow when their party is in power but oppose every good thing when they are in opposition, they don't think of you the people they represent but think of how you will keep them in power to protect their pockets. 2020 vote out all these ndc mps ,they are disgrace to their constituencies and don't deserve to represent anyone in Ghana. They oppose even policies that will help their poor constituents and is that how you people want your lives? They are getting richer at your expense and making you poorer by opposing every good thing for you so your lives don't see the light of day and they can use you to educate their children and they tell you Free SHS is not good. These are the people you voted to represent you, next time shine your eyes and vote for good people not a party. You can get good people in the NPP, PPP,PNC ,NDP or CPP but definitely not ndc under mahama's and this executives control. If ndc was under President Rawlings control most of these people wouldn't have been in parliament and if even they happen ,he will see to it their brains work good.
