Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker has described government's Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a health service provider to use drone technology to deliver blood supplies and essential medicines to remote communities by September, this year as a ‘political gimmick’.
He wondered how beneficial or sustainable the project will be when roads leading to these communities can simply be constructed through a massive determination of government in no time to make those remote villages accessible to proper healthcare.
“How genuine will a medicine or blood be when it is transported by this machine? and how will a transported medicine or blood be of use when there is no doctor or nurse available in the vicinity to direct a patient on what to do?” he quizzed.
Speaking on UTV’s ‘Adekye Nsroma’ programme, Ade Coker said left to him alone, government should be interested in employing more nurses with good conditions to work in such remote areas than initiating this drone process, which will not inure to anyone's benefit.
Health Care Goes Hi-tech
Government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with a health service provider this week that would enable the country to use drone technology to deliver blood supplies and essential medicines to remote communities by September, this year.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia made the announcement at the opening of the Annual Health Summit organized by the Ministry of Health, in Accra on Monday on the theme: ‘‘Achieving Universal Health Coverage-Using Innovative Approaches’’.
"We don’t have to allow our mothers to die because we can’t have blood supplies and essential medicines sent to them", Dr Bawumia said.

Gimmick is John Ford Mahama's decision to build an airport at Ho.... That whopping money spent could be used to improve the road network in the region or even put up a factory to create jobs for the people..... Economic activity in Ho is not high enough to warrant an airport. Probably he built it for ghosts to use and win some votes. Fulllish decision by a ***barred word*** president...... It was a create, l00t and share project for NDC double salary ministers to make evil money......
OH NO !!!ADE COKER PAAA NIE !!!!!!!; so this kriminal of a thiff is not aware of the benefits of drones technology in this age of advanced technology in the health syaten been introduced every where ; Jesus Christ have MERCY on Ghana !!!!!!; how did we Ghanaians vote for such backward EVIL and non intelligent beings to govern Ghana led by Jon Mahama aka Ali BABA ;how on earth did Ghanaians entertain such bunch of riff-raffs who do not read and are only waiting to gain power to still and rob from Ghanaians ; this full Ade Coker should go to Malaysia ; the Philipines; China ; Rwanda and see the workings of drones ; for the NDC party everything is impossible ; for them going to the Moon would have been impossible ; going to Mars today will be an impossible task but stilling and over bloating contracts and sharing and diverting 'KuluLu' monies is a just 'KOKO' for them ; finding ways to craft ways to still is just a mondus oparadi for the NDC party ; look at the way their MP's diverted state funds into their pockets but today telling Ghanaians it was an administrative mistake; hoe can a party claim a bank is bankrupt but the gats some members to borrow from the same bankrupt and set up a new bank ; therefore putting the bank in the hands of NDC KROOKS !!!!!! and calling it a different name ; NDC A PARTY CALLED ALI BABA AND THE 40 THIFFS !!!!!!
hmmmmmm ndc and fuuuuling i can't think far
to ndc anything good is impossible
Does this man even know what a drone is? The NDC's 'Impossible' mentality will live with them forever. If this technology saves a life of just a woman over a period of time, I think it is worth it. These drones will get to remote places in minutes and save valuable life instead of the hours it will take traditional transport. Therefore the argument of poor roads that need to be fixed instead of the deployment of drones is totally infantile. The world is evolving and Ghana should not be left out.
Using drones for such purposes is not big feat at all, in fact, in some parts of the world where some of us are, we see the drone technology being used in various applications of daily life;in agriculture, in fire fighting, building construction, traffic control and so many others. If the government plans to use drone technology to deliver essential health care to the deprived areas, I don't see why some Ghanaians should have an issue on this, and this should not even be discussed in politics. The real importance of using drones in such situations is to save the long time driving to these remote areas, even if they have first class roads. Drones will deliver in no time as compared to driving long distances, with the possibility of road accidents, and late delivery of essential services. Ghanaians must learn to distinguish between political issues and developmental issues. When you leave the shores of Ghana and find yourself in other parts of the world, you realise we are only joking and playing around with our development. We are being left behind whiles we wake up each day to play cheap politics. Being in opposition shouldn't mean everything the incumbent government plans to do is bad or unachievable, small brains say it can't be done, big brains say it is possible!
Talk, talk no action. Meanwhile Kapwepwe Akufo Addo continues to commission Mahama's projects which they claimed while in opposition as photoshop. Mahama, the most visionary leader ever ruled Ghana besides Nkrumah. Any 1diot can insult me because I have spoken the truth which will always hurt the gullible NPP fanatics including those manning this website; kwakwakwakwakwa!!!!
You cannot carry common sticks and your now calling for logs to carry. Do they think before talking or as soon as the sight excited people, they decide to tickle them small. As for the Veep, he lost his credibility & integrity loooong time ago. I think some of us over hyped him. He isn't what he claimed to be. I'm disappointed in him.
Because NDC did not have the idea? You only came to CREATE, LOOT & Share. Double salary party!
See how this man is embarrassing himself just because of politics. Must you contribute to discussion on any topic even if you don’t ve much information. Let’s stop the mediocrity and move forward. Your comments are really cheap
