The office of the former president John Mahama has catalogued a number of infrastructure projects executed by the former president in the Brong Ahafo Region in response to President Nana Akufo-Addo's “ghost projects” comment.
Nana Akufo-Addo, while touring the Brong Ahafo Region suggested claims that the Mahama-led government embarked on unprecedented projects in the region was a mirage.
According to the President, the Mahama administration only embarked on “ghost projects”.
But the office of the former President on Monday described as regrettable, the President’s failure to exhibit candour in his comment on the infrastructure projects done by his predecessor.
A statement issued by Mahama’s aide, Joyce Bawah Mogtari listed a number of projects executed by the previous administration in the road, health and education sectors among others.
See Full statement below:
STATEMENT IN REACTION TO PRESIDENT AKUFO-ADDO’S GHOST PROJECTS COMMENT
The attention of the Office of HE John Dramani Mahama has been drawn to the false comments made by President Nana Akufo-Addo to the effect that the unprecedented capital investments made by the Mahama administration cannot be seen and are “ghost projects”.
It is regrettable that President Akufo-Addo has yet again failed to exhibit candour in his speech, this time to the Chiefs and people of Nkoranza in Brong Ahafo Region. It is even more worrying when there is overwhelming evidence of the massive investment made in the provision of various projects for the people of Ghana.
Mr. Mahama, who remains grateful to the people of this country for the opportunity to serve them, is gratified that he was able to provide tangible development in all sectors that enhanced the quality of life of Ghanaians.
The least President Akufo-Addo must do is to add to his predecessor’s significant gains instead of rolling back the clock of socio-economic transformation. After seventeen months in office, what the people want to see are the projects initiated or started by the President since he was sworn into office.
In the Brong Ahafo Region, for instance, the region had its fair share of development, which can be honestly attested to by the chiefs and people of the Region. How the President can say these are ghost projects is surprising.
For the benefit of the President, I wish to provide below, a list of some projects undertaken by the John Dramani Mahama administration between 2013 and 2016 in the Brong Ahafo Region.
ROADS SECTOR
1. Dormaa Ahenkro- Nkrankwanta road
2. Dormaa Ahenkro Town roads
3. Dormaa Ahenkro- Babianiha roads
4. Babianiha- Antwirifo roads
5. Nkoranza Town roads
6. Nkoranza- Jema Road
7. Wenchi Town roads
8. Techiman Town roads
9. Techiman- Offuman roads
10. Sunyani Town roads
11. Jema-Amoma-Anyima road
12. Nkoranza – Busunya road
13. Goaso-Akyerensua road
14. Mmahame Junction – Dadiesoaba road
15. Dadiesoaba – Siechem road
16. Sunyani Senior High School roads.
In addition to the above, the following road projects had been awarded and were under construction at the time the NDC left office in January 2017.
1. Kintampo Town roads
2. Jema Town roads
3. Atebubu-Kwame-Danso roads
4. Sankore – Nobekwa road
5. Bechem Town roads.
HEALTH SECTOR
As part of efforts to bring healthcare to the doorstep of the people of the Brong Ahafo region, the John Mahama administration constructed, equipped and operationalized five (5) polyclinics at Techimantia, Kwatire, Bomaa, Wamfie and Nkrankwanta.
The TAIN District Hospital at Nsawkaw, started by the same government, was about 75% complete at the time the NDC exited office.
A total of one hundred and twenty-one (121) CHPS Compounds were also constructed across the region. The region also benefitted from the National Hospital Equipment Replacement Programme under which modern health equipment were installed in all public hospitals.
EDUCATION SECTOR
We wish to remind President Akufo-Addo that it was the Mills and Mahama administration that established the first Public University in the history of the Brong Ahafo Region, the University of Energy and Natural Resources- UNER, which today has a student population of more than three thousand (3000).
The Mahama administration also established the Dormaa satellite campus of the UNER and provided many transformative facilities on the main Sunyani Campus of the University.
The following Health Training Institutions were established in the region- Sampa Nursing Training School, Techiman Nursing Training School, Yamfo College of Health, Dadiesoaba Nursing Training School, Seikwa Nursing Training School, Kwapong Nursing Training School and Goaso Midwifery School.
To further expand educational facilities and opportunities in the region, the following projects were undertaken:
1. Construction of fifteen (15) Community Day Senior High Schools (Danyame, Techimantia, Techiman, Kasapin, Duadaso, Kintampo, Awrowa amoing others)
2. The absorption and enhancement of 16 other Community Secondary Schools in the region e.g. Sankore Senior High School.
3. Establishment of a satellite campus in Techiman for the University of Education Winneba.
4. Expansion of the Nkoranza Technical Institute by constructing eleven (11) new structures for the Institute.
5. Construction of over two hundred and forty (240) six-unit classroom blocks for basic schools in the region. These projects were all at different stages of completion as at January 2017.
Additionally, the NDC Government constructed educational facilities ranging from dormitories, classroom blocks and administration blocks in almost every Public Senior High School in the region.
WATER SECTOR
To ensure access to potable water in order to ensure good health and enhance productivity, President Mahama provided the Brong Ahafo region with the following:
1. Berekum Water project- this project will supply the people of Berekum and its environs with water till the year 2050
2. Construction of 23 Community Small Town Water projects across the Region
3. 1,446 Boreholes and 71 solar-powered boreholes across the region
4. Expansion of Bechem and Duayawkwanta water facilities.
RURAL ELECTRIFICATION
Under the leadership of President John Mahama, over seven hundred (700) communities in the region were added to the national grid. These communities included Danyame, Nsesreso, Antwirifo, communities in the Nkrankwanta District and eighty (80) communities in the Kintampo Municipality among others.
Let me place on record that the above list is by no means exhaustive. It is therefore inexplicable how any citizen of Ghana would purport not to be aware of these visible investments much less the President of Ghana, who should and can assess information about all these very easily.
Even as we remain convinced that an unwholesome political motive may have informed the President feigning ignorance, we wish to encourage him to use the opportunity offered by these tours, to explain to the people of Ghana why they should continue to repose confidence in him after having disappointed them through his failure to honour many campaign promises.
We note, sadly, that owing to this failure, President Akufo-Addo is touring the country empty handed with little or nothing to show for his stewardship so far. As a consequence, he has resorted to making more promises on his regional tours after seventeen months in office.
The much awaited campaign promises of ‘one District, one factory’, ‘one village, one dam’, ‘one million dollars for each constituency every year’ are yet to to materialize.
Also conspicuously missing on the President’s agenda in the Brong Ahafo Region was a tangible update on efforts to make good his promise to pay victims of the micro-finance scams that became a subject of his campaign in 2016.

AKUFO ADDO AND HIS 110 MINISTERS PLUS 998 COMMUNICATORS WORKING AT FLAG STAFF HOUSE ARE COMPLETE FAILURE. NOTHING TO SHOW FOR BEING IN THE OFFICE CLOSE 24 GOOD MONTHS. WE CAN ONLY SE PROMISES AND BIG GRAMMARS AND FLYING AROUND THE WORLD WASTING THE TAX PAYERS MONEY. IN 2020, AKUFO ADDO(KING PROMISE) AND BURROWMIA WOULD COMMIT SUICIDE.
I pity Mrs.Mahama and entire Mahama Household! President Carter of USA was one term President!but He is The Respected EX-President in the US and World.Good name is Better than........
I don't blame those who are insulting the President if the republic of Ghana because they don't know what is development, most of them come from deprived areas and think it us ok to build 1 kilometer of road and tout it as 100 kilometers and some of them have come to live in Accra and other juicy areas and think their people are not worth having a good living. Who in his right sense and working hard to succeed in life will join ndc ? They are all outcasts and h*peless who can't direct their lives but depends on others to survive hence no ndc mvery seem to love Ghana ,they are all unpatriotic, ins*nsitive, wicked and evil even their own Mzbel has learnt a lesson from them. They disregard their own people when in trouble and sick but put on their gidigran colours to declare actors who die as ndc members what a bunch of confused and desperate people. You were given 8 years with nothing to show so what will 4 years in opposition help you to come back? Political comedians! In any case, we need these ndc jokers to kill our stress ! I'm happy the real good people of Ghana are not showing any interest in them but only their 44% who are making noise ,but even then, the 44 % will reduce to 22% by 2020 because the NPP are bringing new things everyday and seeing to putting things in good order,by the end of this year the national ID will be in existence then 2020 the ROPAA to decide who governs Ghana will work. Ndc can make noise, tickle themselves, jubilate and sing for Mahama 2020 will decide his fate and disgrace and the end of his political career. We shall see who are the majority who decide who should rule Ghana, your rigging machine has been dismantled and your so called Hawks can't stand the test of time. We are not playing but serious people don't play the id*ocy for it won't work.
What ROADS? MAhama is truly a conman and we must retire him come 2020 because that man can't stop lying.I don't see PANIC and VOTE BUYING PROJECTS to be Real achievement. Those DJIBRIL KANAZOE ROAD are in deplorable state.
This loot and share argument will not work for NPP come 2020 election if they fail to jail former ministers. Ghanainas are not stuppppppiddddd, you talk about loot but no evidence to show they indeed loot. Only fooooooooooooools will allow themselves to be fooooooled again. JM coming back like kakai, let them dispute the list or shuttttttttttt up.
I read Sunyani town roads done..... Did Mahama completed ALL Sunyani town roads? I don't think so..... Were the rods asphalted or just gravel poured on them... This statement is vague and full of lies...... Journalists must take this up and check the said roads and their current status..... Too many shoddy works in the road sector due to poor supervision.... John Ford Mahama is desperate and confused...... If all the said projects are executed in the Brong Ahafo Region then the place is heaven on earth under Mahama.....
All these were done by Ex president Mahama yet the people who own these voted against him. This tells you that the hated you for the financial fraud you and your family visited on them. They will vote against you the next time you show up.
hmmm in fact this is a good opportunity for our journalists to go down to investigate if truly Ex president Mahama did what has been listed or its Pres Akuffo Ado who is throwing dust into our eyes. Ghana journalist please help us ooo enough of the blame game of NDC and NPP, i really wish i stay around those places i would have show pictorial evidence
What are the returns on those projects?
I really feel sorry for the former president. Instead of finding another profession to thread on, he want a platform for another disgrace which lead him out of this country for good. All projects raised have been checked and seen as shoddy and non existent. why worry yourself the former president? Apart from politics in the governance level, cant you do any other thing to better your environment? If you can humble yourself by taking other social development job such a lecturing at the Universities, NGO jobs, and or concentrating on your private businesses, the better will be your future. You always surprise me with your indecision. you are not straight forward person even in your speech. Who do you think apart from the NDC gurus will support you in campaign and voting? Mr. Mahama the aka adage says ' Obarima b3y33 bi...' literally 'A man came to do his part, the rest must define itself' . God has blessed you so much with resources and image what else do you want? Please i love you as a being and therefore would like you to note that active politics by your profile just visited you. Leave it to chance. Take no serious life in it again. I bet you both spiritually and physically, you are from the day of loosing 2016 election a looser in politics? Challenge God and you will never wish to have been born in Ghana. The humiliation will await you if you dare stand as a presidential candidate. i read lines as a political analyst and plead you allow the Spio, Alex, Alabi etc to fight for a new NDC. Those ones has the potential to psyche Ghanaians for options but not you. If NDC will listen, Mahama will destroy and bury NDC if he should be the flag-bearer for NDC. This is my advice, Mr Mahama.
