The Western Regional Chairman of the Ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ndede Siah has claimed that each delegate who voted at the NPP conference in Koforidua was given GHC1,500 by the newly elected national chairman Freddie Worsimewu Blay before the ballot.
Speaking with Takoradi-based Radio 360, Mr. Siah also revealed that the four-time defeated aspirant , Stephen Ntim, also paid GHC1000 each to the 6,000 delegates who voted.
“It is not true Freddie Blay paid GHC3,000 to each delegate; but as transport expenses, Ntim gave each delegate ghc1,000 and Freddie Blay gave each 1,500,” he said disclosed.
He admitted the money could have influence decisions of the delegates but added that oftentimes delegates take decisions of who to vote for before the day of the Congress. He decried the use of money in Ghana’s politics and called measures to stop the act.
He also said National Youth Organiser aspirant Dominic Eduah lost the polls because he failed to show up by a debate organised TESCON for the youth organiser contestants.
Mr. Blay garnered 3,021 votes as against Ntim’s 2,515. The third candidate Dr. Amoako Baah managed a paltry 18 votes.
The Conference, among others, elected John Boadu as General Secretary and Sammi Awuku as National Organiser.

EOCO, CHRAG, special prosecutor, where are you?? 9 and 6 million cedis spent by two individuals on a simple national chairmanship position? My heart bleeds for mother Ghana. Where are they getting those monies from? They maybe rich but seriously what is there so much to gain that we spend 15 million cedis on a single day. National chairmanship position should be classified as a public office so that the Auditor general can audit the accounts of the candidates. And by the way, did he pay withholding tax on the monies? GRA should be interested in this case. We cannot allow this go on when we hold an ordinary civil servant accountable for the smaller offences. GRA act now!!!!!!!!!!!
