The nomination of Mrs. Jean Mensa for consideration as Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) has sparked controversy with many opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) members describing her as someone in bed with the ruling NPP government.
But the General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed has described the behaviour of the main opposition NDC as 'unproductive and baseless' partisan politics preventing the right people from stepping up for responsible positions in the country.
“She is a neutral civil society person doing her work very well. I think that this useless politics is preventing the right and good people from stepping up for responsible positions in the country. We should stop this and move forward as a country, and I believe she is a consensus candidate that we all will be comfortable to work with.
“Let’s stop that baseless political thing we do because it won’t help all of us. These are unproductive partisan politics we do,” he added.
Atik Mohammed wondered why the opposition NDC is tagging Mrs Jean Adukwei Mensa as an NPP member when at a point the party [NPP] also boycotted the activities of the IEA; quizzing whether at that time the same Jean Mensa was anti-NPP.
“NPP at a point boycotted the activities of IEA . . . At the time NPP boycotted IEA activities, does it mean that time Jean Mensa was anti-NPP?” he quizzed.
Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensa's appointment follows the removal from office last month of the former Chairperson of the EC, Mrs Charlotte Osei, and her two deputies, Mr. Amadu Sulley and Mrs. Georgina Opoku Amankwah, by President Akufo-Addo, after the Committee established by the Chief Justice, Justice Sophia Akuffo, to investigate petitions brought against them, recommended their removal.
A statement signed by the Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Opare, also named Mr. Samuel Tettey together with Dr. Eric Asare Bossman, as Deputy Chairpersons and Ms. Adwoa Asuama Abrefa, as a Member of the Commission.
"President Akufo-Addo is hopeful that the Council of State will discharge its constitutional duty expeditiously, to enable him make these critical appointments to this very important institution of State," the statement added.

Just look at the monkey talking? ***barred word*** !!!! ***barred word*** man!!!
THIS GENTLEMAN IS JUST TOO KNOWN. I DONT KNOW IF HE IS A STUDENT OR A MATURED ADULT? HE IS PART OD F THE NOKO FIO PEOPLE. MY ADVISE IS THAT WHEN PEOPLE WANT TO BE NUTURAL THEY MUST STAY THERE AS SUCH SO THAT IN FUTURE IF THEY ARE GIVEN A RESPONSIBILITY THEY WILL BE NO MARK ON THEM. THE NPP MAKE ME LAUGH AND FALL ON THE GROUND. THEY PONTIFICATE THAT MR AMIDU IS A CARD MEMBER OF THE NDC AND HAS BEEN GIVEN A POST AND THE NDC ARE UNHAPPY MEANWHILE WE ALL KNOW THE ROLE AMIDU PLAYED WE ALL KNOW HE DID NOT WANT THE NDC TO WIN AND IT WILL NOT TAKE ANY WISE PERSON TO NOTE THAT AMIDU DID NOT VOTE FOR THE NDC? HE HAS BEEN REWORDED BY HIS ROLE AND HE IS VERY HAPPY. NANA KONADU HAS SAID HE IS VERY HAPPY TOO. LISTERN TO WHAT OFOSU AMFOFO HAS SAID ABOUT THE APPOINTMENT OF THE NEW EC BOSS AND WE MUST BE WISE TO SIT AND RECTIFY THINGS BEFORE THE ELECTIONS ITS ONLY AT ELECTIONS TIME THAT THERE IS ALWAYS PANIC IN THIS COUNTRY. WE HAVE BEEN LUCKY IN ALL OUR ELECTIONS WITH TENSIONS HOW LONG SHALL WE BE LUCKY. LETS DO THINGS RIGHT.WE ARE ALL GHANAIANS WE ARE ALL HUMAN BEINGS.
Joe and do you have a job? if you do and as a responsible person in society is ndc the right party to be? probably, you ain't a Ghanaian so you think you will enjoy hospitality with the create l000 00t and share party, who have made ECOWAS their other constituency. I'm not wishing you to be in the NPP but we have PNC, NDP, CPP and PPP which are more Ghanaian than the ndc to join if you are a real and true son of Ghana. Jean Adukwei Mensa is a real Ghanaian woman who wouldn't gain nothing so wouldn't supervise for the destruction of her country. She wouldn't sell her country for money and wouldn't do nothing to jeopardize her country, she has come to stay if ndc has a problem they can go burn the sea ! if ndc has a problem with her and so what and who cares, does that mean every Ghanaian should have a problem with her? kw*sea su! she is not coming to work for the ndc but Ghanaians. If ndc don't understand they can do their worst who cares?
Look at this hungry ***barred word***. You have no job and this is what you Will do to survive.
